Yeah. Usually around 10 holiday days a year (varies I think). I get either 3 or 4 weeks of paid vacation time as well (I honestly don't remember how much, I always have more then I can use). Most places also allow a certain number of sick days. My work doesn't, but you can take them as you wish. You just need a doctor's note if you're out more then 5 days in a row.

There's the usual good and bad things about being on salary of course. When things are slow, you can head out early if you want. Catch a film in the middle of the afternoon. Take a long lunch. Etc. As long as your projects get completed on time, no one cares. Of course, it also means you get no overtime when there's something major that requires extra hours. In the IT profession, you will occasionally have to manage downtimes that'll last days (hopefully scheduled if they last that long. It's also not uncommon for me to still be working as late as midnight, because I absolutely have to get something working right before the next business day.

It's all fun.

Three weeks vacation, five personal days, five sick days. Technically, we get six holidays, but in reality it's closer to eight since we never work the Friday after Thanksgiving and usually squeeze another day in there somewhere, plus the office clearing out by noon on Good Friday, Christmas Eve, etc.

As I said though, the greatest benefit is knowing that, if my son's school calls at 2pm today that he's sick, no one will mark tabs in a book that I left 2.5hrs early to get him.

I get the joy of know how much money people have, and I get to see how they think they squirrel it away in different accounts. That and free printer paper if no one is looking.

But the best perk of all is that I love teaching adults how little they actually know about the job they do every day. I just like seeing them happy when I show them how to do their job easier and more efficient. The free travel and booze is nice too.

I have 11 paid holidays, two weeks vacation, 3 personal days.
Plus sick leave which does have an hour cap. (Ie I dont earn more than 4 weeks.

Another job perk is meeting folks from all over the world, educating and entertaining them. Now if only Nicole Kidman would come back to visit while I was working.
