There are decongestants that don't contain pseudoephedrin.

Bah stupid government, let the idiot parents take responsibility for their idiot children! No one's fault but your own if you let your kids get into this kind of stuff.
You mean like the ESRB ratings for example? Yeah parents are willing to step up and take the responsibility for their kids.

You can buy the sudafed PE then, it is sudafeds PSE free version, and is suppose to be non drowsy.

BTW the new laws so far that I know of just have moved the PSE products behind the pharmacy. This is to prevent certain people from buying, but mainly stealing, mass quantities for drug use. Now just because these items are be hind the pharmacy does not mean you cant get them. The products are still for sale with out prescription, with just the inconvenience of being regulated and not easily available.

Lol psuedophedrine's #1 (illegal) use is production of meth, the only difference between the 2 molecules is a single hydroxy group, (thats a ***** to remove btw, I've tried :D) The reason you can only buy 3 packs at a time is because 3boxes of psuedophedrine will barely produce 2~3g of meth.

The ID thing makes me laugh though, those 14 year olds are well known for running meth labs.

I know from experience that the 14 year olds are more likely to buy something like Robitussin or Coricidin for the dextromethorafan to get a cheap high....

it was friends, I swear it.

I was listening to Paul Wall on Stern yesterday, and he edjumacated me as to the term "syrup." He said that his preferred method was emptying a bottle into some soda. Do people even listen to themselves?

Most people I knew took coricidin cough and cold pills. Easier than syrup maybe? I dunno.

Soda and cough syrup? Gross.

I met a guy that inhaled those whip-it things once. I felt really bad for him because he did it to be funny at parties, but it was pretty much the only thing he had going for him. He was almost seven feet tall, fat as hell, had a minor job and smoked pot 24/7. He also cried almost daily about his fiancé who had left him about seven years back.Smiley: dubious

There's a new law in Virginia, effective October 1st (apparently) that prohibits the sale of any medication containing pseudoephedrine without a pharmacist authenticating your age via picture ID. They don't allow more than three boxes at a time, and they log your name, address, and quantity purchased for any investigations, up to a year.

It has been something like this in California for a while now. Too many tweak heads in cali. Unfortunately if you're cooking speed you’re probably not buying 2-3 boxes of something with pseudoephedrine in it, but rather stealing 20+ boxes. I used to work at Longs Drugs and not more then 2 could be sold to any customer, yet I caught several men stealing well over 20 boxes.

Yeah the town I lived in had problems with meth.

I keep hearing that the problem was with people stealing a large amount of boxes. It seems like putting them behind the counter under lock and key and limiting the sale to three boxes would have been enough. Again, I just hate the inconvenience and violation of my privacy (having to give out my address and unlisted phone #). Oh well. I realize there's really nothing to be done for it.

I assumed, as I am sure you have as well, that people who didn't/couldn't steal the boxes were buying 2-3 at every local drug store they could. I do however agree with you. It is a shame one has to give up social liberties so our government can keep better track of the few as[/b]shats that do exist.

Ahh, meth. The drug of choice for white trash everywhere, it seems.

My company actually had a maintenance assistant stealing ammonia from work to carry home for his meth lab. He wound up in a Cops!-style chase, though I don't know if it was taped or not to eventually make it on the air. Probably America's Dumbest Criminals, if it ever does show. Who runs from the popo in a 4 cylinder pickup, I ask you?

Yes the problem was people stealing large quantities, there was a drugstore here that was going through hundreds a week in theft.

But the State of Texas doesnt think that locking it up is good enough. Here stores are not even allowed to put it into a lock case that has access to it by a non pharmacist. So it doesnt matter if the store locks it up and only allows one to be sold at a time, it has to be sold by the pharamcist.

I cant say for other states, but here in TX coricidin wasnt even effected by the law change, and still is over the counter.

The no more than 3 boxes per person/per day thing is a Federal law, all the other BS is just state law.

Lol and I hope he was stealing the anhydrous stuff, it would be a real laughing sutuation if he was stealing normal ammonia. I doubt you would have it unless you work at a farm or some kind of chem/bio lab.

Then again, a gallon of anydrous ammonia goes for $200-300 a gallon in some areas.
