Horrible FridayFollow

Fridays are supposed to be awesome, right? Last day of work for two days where you can relax, go out to the bar, whatever. Well, this Friday was horrible for me.

Everything was fine. I woke up at 6 A.M. and went to work. It was payday so I decided to go to the bank on my lunchbreak. The bank is in a mall parking lot and has a bump/dip when you enter the parking area. Well, I must've hit it too hard because something fucked up on my vehicle. My front end dropped a couple of inches and I believe my transmission itself shifted to one side. The position where third gear was is now fifth gear.

I get back to work and finish my day. I am worried about my truck but hey, I have a job to do.

On my way home after work, I receive a phone call. It was my work firing me. I just started this job two weeks ago but I worked there back in 2000, when I was 16. My father also worked for the company. Some stuff happened that year and my father got laid off because of pretty in-depth reasons. I too, got laid off because well, I have the same name as my father.

I am still friends with people in the company so I started working there again. People would come up to me and say that I should have never left but honestly, it was something that I couldn't avoid. The company has changed quite a bit ever since Volvo Aeroservices/Ages Group bought 100% of it.

Enough of that, though. I was never given a reason why I was fired and didn't once get talked to about something I needed to work on or anything. So, why did I get fired? I am led to believe it was because someone high in the company found out who I was. Like I said, I have the same name as my father and my father's name is well known in the Aviation industry. This is the great state of Washington so they don't need a reason to fire you, we're a at-will state. Though, I would consider this discrimitory.

So now, my vehicle is fu
cked up and I am unemployed. I will find another job but this just sucks. I have bills to pay. That my friends, was my horrible Friday.

Yea, that's what I think too. Sometimes I can feel my transmission swaying underneath my vehicle. It also vibrated more and I think that it's vibrating against my frame and/or exhaust.

My bass player told me that it could be my clutch plate but I don't think so. The motor mounts don't look busted. I won't know much until I actually get under there and look.

Is it true that it's best to fire people on a Friday since there's less chance of an "incident"?

That is so true. Mike Judge was very accurate with Office Space.

You know, when I got laid off from Volvo Aeroservices back in 2000, it was a Friday, too.

Just waking up in the morning gotta thank God
I don't know but today seems kinda odd
No barking from the dog, no smog
And momma cooked a breakfast with no hog
I got my grub on, but didn't pig out
Finally got a call from a girl wanna dig out
Hooked it up for later as I hit the do'
Thinking will i live, another twenty-fo'
I gotta go cause I got me a drop top
And if I hit the switch, I can make the *** drop
Had to stop at a red light
Looking in my mirror not a jacker in sight
And everything is alright
I got a beep from Kim and she can fuck all night
Called up the homies and I'm askin y'all
Which park, are y'all playin basketball?
Get me on the court and I'm trouble
Last week fucked around and got a triple double
Freaking niggaz every way like M.J.
I can't believe, today was a good day

Managers seem to think so. They're also very fond of getting rid of people right before a major holiday.

God Bless America!

I can't believe that they would call you on your way home, though. Your boss must be a total tool. They could have at least sat you down and had an exit interview, etc. although I suppose they weren't obligated since you were still in your trial period.

Sucks, man. Sorry. You gonna file for unemployment?

Yea, I'm going to do unemployment but I'm going to try to get a new job as soon as possible, probably in the computer field where I'm more skilled at.
