So I've been ragining insomniac for could weeks, either not sleepoing at all, oir getting 3 hours to sleep. Therepist tells me to go to psychiatrist cos he can't give out no drugs. Sos the psychiatrist says here take some of this Ambien stuff.

I have taken the reccomended doses of ambien for tonight, 1 pill (20mg i thinik) Effects are pleasant, have a slightly euphoric trnd to feelings and thoughts. EVerything is much more mellow, very peaceful, so peaceful in fact that I'm more than peaceful enough right now to not give a damn that Im throwing things at a lion by making the post.

I think I also just "saw" music in the form of some old Game Remixes 'n stuff, kinda creepy. Like i'd close and open my eyes and there were golden snakes during peaceful parts and red globues thrashed around in a storm for angry parts. Kinda cool really.

Overal sideeffect wise it almost reminds me of oxycodin.
The kind of disembodied feeling and the kinda shifting ballance constantly.

Anyone else ever done Ambien? I don't really mind the side effects, but if there's something simpler out there that would work on the whole insomnia thing I'd be nice to see.

Hmm, seems as if having a hard time distinguishing reality from fantasy right now too. Cn't tell if stuff is sarcasting or just weird.

Naw, naw dont turn it into some Angryhippo thread. Dosage ain't that high.

Just wanna know if anyone else ever had them given to them by psychiatrist. See if side effects are ok or bad in case. Also see alternative possibilities to ambien, maybe something else someones tried and had success with.

Hehe it's kinda fun my lucidity just kinda jumps in sporadicly sometimes.

Hmm maybe if you went and laid down. Got comfortable. You could sleep. It would help my eyes for sure if I didnt have to read your drug induced stupidity.

Naw you see that's exacrtly what Doctor was worried about was that Ambien had a very strong come on period and could be addictive if taken long enough.

I'm wondering (I KNOW you've done stuff in medicine before Katie) if any posters have taken the sleep aid drug Ambien and experoenced simmilar effects. If so, were they good or bad effects.

If bad, did you find a different sleep aid? Perhaps one that removed the negative side effects (if important enough)

Dude, Ambien is useless for like 90% of the population... I was on it for awhile, felt like I was on Xanex... It just intensified my insomnia... didn't help it.

Pretty much what I'm saying is, Ambien apperantly isn't working very well for you... Go try a different drug... like my incredibly lame shrink once said "Sleeping pills and anti-depressants are like shoes, what fits one person will feel weird and uncomfortable for someone else." I hated that guy.

EDIT:
I switched to trazadone, switched again to something else, then my doc finally gave up and told me I should stop doing so much speed. JK

I'm on tylenol w/ codiene now, it's like the only sleeping aid that forces you to sleep instead of lulling you into one.

Honestly? I'd not take the Ambien. I'd take a benadryl about 15 minutes before you want to go to bed, take a nice hot shower, turn off all the lights, get in bed and try to sleep. Benadryl and the hot shower should relax you enough to put you out.

When I have trouble sleeping (whether it's truly some kind of problem or I just need to be asleep for a new work schedual) I buy cheap sleep aids. Apparently they aren't habit forming and are enough to knock you out.

Alcohol has about the same effect on you, but meh.

Suck it up ya hick; being loopy on ambien isn't anything special.

Ironically, Ambiem is designed to help sleep and benadryl is not. Looking at it from your perspective, taking the Benadryl is way worse than taking the ambien because taking something for a side affect isn't very smart.

Hey dip ****, you realize most OTC sleep aids are benadryl? He doesnt want the drunk/halucinagen side effects he's experiencing from Ambien. While his best bet would be to contact his doctor and get it changed to something else, he asked me what I would do. My personal choice would be to take a benadryl every nite before bedtime no more than 4 times, then if that is not helping, I'd call my doctor.

You realize tylenol3 is not a sleeping aid? Its a pain killer. The side effect is it makes you drowsy? How you ask? By decreasing your breathing rate, lack of oxygen to your brain.. BAM.. your sleepy. Your body shuts down. Too much will kill you, not including the damage tylenol will do to your liver over an extended amount of time(Look up NASH). Same as benadryl, just benadryl tends to be less addicting and less chance of it ******* up your liver.

As bad as that sounds, I'm looking forward to having my wisdom teeth pulled so I can spend a good 5 days out of work and hyped up on vikoden/norco.

People tell me that it's going to hurt like hell and that my train of thought isn't a train at all... it's a rubber fucking ducky.

Actually I felt fine after about 2 days when I had my wisdom teeth removed. I recommend Jello, mashed potatoes, soup and that kind of thing. NO ICE CREAM! NOTHING EVEN SLIGHTLY CHILLED! The coldness hurt like a **** on my gums. They actually cracked two of the teeth when they were pulling them. My jaw was too small to let them finish coming in all the way so they had to cut my gums to get them out. I reccomend sleep and lots of it. Dont forget to drink plenty of fluids. I looked like a chipmunk for about 3 or 4 days before the swelling was gone.

My cousin had his out. We were playing Halo 2 over Xbox live and all the while he was talking on two levels: one about how he's such a badass sniper that his money-shot would make a pornstar jealous, and the other about how he swallowed one of his stitches and that blood was filling up in his mouth.

He's not a very good sniper when high.

Sounds like your cousin is a little loopy to begin with.

One of the funniest people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.

No matter how bad, more days off work sounds good to me. Last night a good 30 feet of film was destroyed when two layers of film went through the machine and I was the only person there who knew shite about the mechanics of it all.
