Lunchtime!Follow

At our office we have a bit of a ritual that is highschool-esque.

Some of us will compare what we brought for lunch (if we are not going out), and then occasionally we will split/share lunches.

I was wondering if this is a normal occurance, or if you who work all simply go out every day? If you do not go out what do you eat?

My wife and I love cooking so I usually get something enjoyable, and if I do not, then I just go out. Today I have delectible home-made roast beef sandwiches with hot horseradish and a side of home-made gravy. Yummy!

Everyday single day we play the "Ohh...that loooks good. What do you have?" Now we are playing, the "Did your wife make that for you? Is she cooking for you? How are you guys adjusting."

I have a 6" subway sub.

I almost always go out when I work. I haunt the Panera by my shop. Asiago roastbeef sandwich is soooo good

I'll have whatever I get in an hour. I usually have no idea until I get in my car and start driving in a particular direction and see what's up ahead.

I haven't done this since grade school. I usually go out. Working in downtown LA has its benefits. There is literally almost every type of ethnic food within two blocks of where I work. I can eat sushi, Indian, Mexican, Korean BBQ, Chinese, Italian, Cuban, hamburgers and a lot more. Most of it is pretty cheap, costing about 10 bucks for the most expensive meals.

I usually bring my lunch. Today I made tuna salad, and brought Kashi TLC crackers to eat it on. Also brought some yogurt & green tea.

$10x5x50 = $2500 on lunches
$2x5x50 = $500 on coffees

$3000/year for something better. Call me frugal, but I'd rather have home made and it puts money back into the entertainment slush fund. Add to that the cost of gas (if you can't walk there) asn it's a big savings.

Also, I only go out for lunch if absolutely need be, I do not like the public.

I only work 3 days a week as a "student worker". Sometimes 4 days a week. I would say on average I spend about 7 bucks per meal. I don't drive I walk. Coffee is free. I will have to admit that this is rather costly over time. It gives me a chance to get out of the office though, and I really, really like japanese curry.

Sometimes I bring, sometimes I buy. Today is leftover fried rice from yesterday. The place I go to gives huge portions so I can usually turn it into two lunches.

I spend closer to $4/day on lunch and get free coffee at work. So only $1040 here, spread out over the course of a year.

Even if I made my lunch, I'd be spending two or three bucks on ingrediants so I'd be saving maybe $350 a year total, not counting the annoyance of making a lunch every morning and the extra grocery shopping.

Your situation is a bit different from my own. If I was a single divorced guy, I'd also pay for the convenience. When cooking for a family of 6, there tends to be some left over.

I wish I could get a decent giant Polish sausage within easy driving distance. I could go to Portillo's, but the wait is too long and it ain't cheap for every day eating.

It's about 14ºF in my office so I'll probably be getting something warm and filling like a pot pie or chili before I slip into a reptilian torpor.

No its not a wheel, only a block. No mutton either. That's for evening meals, not lunch. Although Id rather it be lamb, personally
