The Corpse BrideFollow

Hello Everyone! This is my first time posting in The Asylum. I scanned the first few pages but I didn't see a thread on this movie. I apologize if this has already been brought up. I should also add that there is a possibility of spoilers in this thread.

I saw The Corpse Bride at midnight opening night. I must say I was not disappointed! The movie was awesome! The music, the dark humor, the story, the romance, it was all great. I love the way Burton portayed the Victorian town as so incredibly boring. While the underworld was much more fun.

My only complaint would be that it is too short. I could have easily watched another two hours of this type of great movie. Unfortunately stop motion is agonizingly slow to film so I forgive them.

Anyways, I would like to hear your opinions and thoughts about this movie. Thanks in advance for your input!

Havnt seen it, want to see it. Here's the obligatory GFY and ESAD. Now that its out of the way how packed was the theatre?

The movie was shown in one of the large auditoriums of a 24 screen Harkins Theatres (Mesa, AZ). I would say there was about 100 people there (out of about 150 seats), which is not a bad crowd. They were pretty rowdy as opening night crowds usually are. They cheered after the Harry Potter trailer, as well as the end of the movie. Overall, a great experience. I can't wait to see it again!

I'm the Lead Projectionist at the movie theater here. Unfortunately we did not get Corpse Bride (the other theater did, we have a contract denying us the movies they won and visa versa).

I can say, however, that after slaving over two prints of Flightplan at six reels each so that they could both be viewed that night, the movie was rather enjoyable. Sucks that we didn't get Corpse Bride and that I did want to see it, but Flightplan was a nice little consolation.

Though, if you really want to see a good movie, see Lord of War. God that one was good.

My wife wants to see Corpse Bride, I want to see god of war. Being the man of the house, you know which movie we will see.

I suppose I can always rent "God of War" when it comes out.

I want to see Corpse Bride, too. But my husband always gives me that funny sideways look when I mention it. Smiley: frown

It'll be out on DVD in a month anyway...

I saw God of War and must say I was mildly disapointed. I felt the trailers had depicted more of a comedy but, as it generally turns out, all the funny bits were the ones they placed in the trailer.

I'd wait for the DVD.

I'm a huge fan of animation so I really want to see this one. It has the very identifiable Tim Burton look to it, which is okay, since I like his macabre visuals.

Nads, you know you just have to hint to the hubby that a little sugar may be forthcoming if he goes to that movie with you and you're in like Flynn.

I'm gonna go see this with my friend. I'm a sucker for a Depp-Burton flick.

Yeah, I may just try that. Or I can promise to not to make fun of his Rocky movies...

Seeing as I never get to go to the movies anymore, I'll have to wait until it comes out on DVD or On Demand before I can see it. I've already filled my quota for 2 movie trips a year. But I do really want to see it

I had a crew coach named Yuri once. He was old and russian. One time a girl complained of a stomache ache and then she passes out. I think Yuri got sued.

Also, I just saw corpse bride and it rocked. Very fun.

I've seen Lord of War, and I really want to go see Corpse Bride. Lord of War was better than I had anticipated. It looked like one of the lame action movies from the previews, but wasn't really an action movie at all, I liked it. Corpse Bride looks awesome, I'll probably go see it on Monday because my fiance and I both have Monday off and he wants to see it too.

Corpse Bride is continually getting good reviews. I hear it is similar in style and mood to another similar Burton film.

Saw it opening day.

Would happily go see it again. Was definitely a fun story to watch, and like most Burton/Elfman collaborations, the visuals and music were a killer combo (Elfman, FYI voices the skeletal singer during the first underworld musical number.

I thought the skeletal puppy was cute. Those two always seem to work a dead puppy into these things, you notice? :P

Dvd's taste good, just watch out for the plastic scratches on the way down and on the way out.

Corpse Bride sucked dick. If my wife had let me, I would have walked out of it. The story line was incredibly lame and predictable, the musical aspect to it was horrible to listen to. The only remotely funny parts (I'm guessing they were supposed to be funny) were plastered all over the previews.

Even Johnny Depp couldn't save this piece of crap. The only redeeming quality was the clay-mation look. Trust me, if this movie had not had that to fall on, it would have bombed hard.

And yes, I loved Nightmare Before Christmas.

This whole post was just an excuse to say "wife", wasn't it? Smiley: dubious
