for the 2 year Army enlistments arn't they job specific? I know when I enlisted part of getting the job i wanted involved signing up for 4 years, that is probably just the corp. the army has come around offering up their warrent officer program to those that were honorably on terminal.
my first 2 years i can still say i didnt know *hit.almost 7 years later im still learning. the military isnt for everyone and we all join for different reasons.
Intel can have a fast promotion rate however i have a buddy waiting on picking up E5, noone has been promoted in his field in awhile (2621) Army has a fast promotion rate, it isnt uncommon to have a 2 year Sgt. It also isn't uncommon to see a 5 year CPL in some of the more promotion clogged MOS like Motor T & Infantry.
i think the big support should go to the spouses and families who stand by their military member. i dont know how you do it but you give us the strength and courage to survive and thrive through our committment to the good ol USA.
