I went out a little before 12 to pick up my son from preschool and noticed about 5 cop cars including statetroopers surrounding a farmstand at the end of my road. Coming home they were still there with more added, and a helicopter flying very low in circles around my neighborhood.

I took the dog out and my son, enamored by the helicopter flying very low over our yard was outside with me when one of my neighbors came over and told me I should probably stay inside for a bit. From what she gathered by the police, someone tried to hijack a car and kidnap the cars owner at the farmstand but fled on foot when the cops began arriving. So far he hasnt been caught. My neighborhood has been blocked off so I cant leave. Yay.

My office is right down the street from the city's main police headquarters. An "incident" happened where they had to block off the entire downtown area so we were told to stay in our office building for about 4 hours. Couldn't leave the building for safety reasons and the cops didn't have enough manpower to safely escort people out of the area. So there was no excuse to give the bosses for us to not get work done.

Hopefully you'll be out in the sunshine soon.

Open a window and stay inside. Don't you have someplace indoors where the sun hits? Throw down a beach blanket and pretend you're at the beach.

For crying out loud, whre's your inner child!?!!?!
Or just use the one you've got.

The child Ive got has been running to the back door trying to unlock it and launch himself out of the house each and every time the helicopter goes by. And thats about once every 3 minutes or so. i doubt Id sit down in my sunny spot before I had to pop up and grab him around the waist to keep him from charging out.

And X all the doors and windows are locked and I even did a walk through when I got home. Everything is kosher

Do you have an upstairs? Tell him he'll have a better view from up there, but that he has to peek from behind the curtains because if the police see him they'll make him go downstairs.

Or toss him in a closet.

Grab yourself a rifle and join in on the ManHunt. Nothing like a little spilled blood to top off a beautiful day.

Turn on the TV and see if one is a new chopper. Try to time their passes so you can moon it and get your *** on the CBS afternoon news.

Not as bad as your circular logic.

The neighborhood is safe because there's no crime, there's no crime because it's safe.

Until, whoa, there was a crime! How did that happen? This neighborhood was supposed to be safe!

It's like installing a virus scanner on your computer and thinking it is "safe", yet never updating the dat files. A false sense of security is the worst security.

I blame them. It's the Iberian Menace still smarting from their losses in the war of 1898!

my logic is because we are out in the hicks of massachusetts, where nothing ever happens except that old farmer Jones cow got on the loose and is eating the neighbors flowers. I think its a fairly safe assumption if in the yars I have been here there has been nothing remotely unsafe about the area.

It doesnt mean that things dont happen, but there are definite logical assumptions that some place are "safer" to live than others. So my assumption was far more correct without having to steryotype Smiley: tongue
