I recently made a comment to Debalic in another thread that breaking a relationship up was bad karma. Now I know we all have differing religious beliefs, but as far as karma is concerned, who believes that it exists, and who has experienced it in their romantice relationships? I usually find that my romantic karma is pretty rock-solid, and when I break a heart mine gets broken in return. Anyone else experience this?

More likely that when you do something bad you feel guilty about it, and not being punished doesn't sit well with you. So you start actively noticing any bad things that happen to you, and pin them on karma.

Observation bias.

I've always believed in Karma and I've seen it demonstrated in my relationships before. I'm a firm believer that whatever you do, say or even think can come back in your favor or to bite you in the a**.

I broke up with a girl who adored me and had fancies of us getting married because she bored me and I thought she was clingy and obsessed. So I became involved with a girl I thought was smart, interesting and had lots going on in her life. Which she did -- she just eventually decided she didn't need my clingy self around Smiley: dubious

I suppose you could call it karma if so inclined.

+1 me

Smiley: grin

I still don't know enough about relationships to know why any of mine ended. I usually attribute it to the girl being a stupid *****, which most people agree with (including the girl's family). It's probably just an emotional defense mechanism. Dating stupid ******** that is.

Exactly what I believe.

But I still hope my ex gets her karma returned.

Possible, but not likely. Whenever I can, I love to get away with things.

As far as interpersonal interactions go, I choose to believe there's a rhyme and reason in tune with a greater good and evil.

Agreed. I remember in a past relationship where I hurt the guy and so my next couple of relationships seemed to be just that above craptastic. Looking back, it was the guilt.

But a karma question would only come up if you actually had a conscience. If someone doesn't have a conscience, anything bad that happenes is never their fault.

On a conscious level you do, but what about your subconscious?

I have hurt people

I have been hurt.

That could equate to Karma.

The reason that it doesn't is that I never gave a flying fuck.

On second thought, I may get drunk and forget all about you, but you should know I meant to respond.

Karma? No. I'm too much of a realist to believe in karma. Life is a series of comparative ups and downs. The downs are not the result of being a "bad person" in the past, but merely not as good as the ups by comparison.

I will always regret the heart that I broke so badly. I'd saw off my own right arm with a plastic knife to be able to take back ever even meeting that girl.

I think every relationship I've had since has been one form of penance or another. And I still owe a few thousand years worth.

I need therapy. Or a drink. Most likely both. I'm gonna start with the drink, cause I'll be damned if I'm lettin Haysoos into my life right now. He'd just turn and run.

I don't believe in fate, destiney, karma, or any god. Nothing is certain really in this world. I could wake up tomarrow and my SO could be dead, or i could be out of a job. Why? Simple randomnes, **** happens for really no reason at all, the good and bad are not destingushed fromby whatever makes it happen.

nah. I've never been a believer in karma. if it were true than the karma God is way overdue for quite a few overly nasty relationships I've seen a few people I know go through. Those that fucked them over have yet to get their come uppance.

I totally believe in Karma. Things just have away of coming back to bite you in the ***. Then again I also believe in ghosts, "knowing" things, dreams.
