Here Aegis, I'll tell you a true story that should make you feel better while you itch nonstop.

When I was in jr high, two of my friends and I decided to be complete idiots and see which of us got Poison Ivy, Sumac, and Oak. I claimed I never got it, so as a dare, the three of us went out purposely to find a bit of each and rub it on our arms.

Of course, we added to our stupidity by rubbing the poison Ivy, Oak, and Sumac on the same spot of our arms.

Fastforward to the next day at school. I walked in smugly with nothing. One friend only got poison Ivy. My other friend, the poor thing, got all three on the same spot and had to go to the doctors. For two weeks she had to wear long sleeved shirts over ani itch cream and guaze, and the pain was incredible. Eventually it got so bad she went home the first day and was out of school for a bit. After that episode, I dont know why, but we're still close friends. She does love to rub it in how miserable she was and that it if I hadn't gloated that I didnt get it she wouldnt have had to go through so much pain. Smiley: laugh

Moral of the story? Never listen to your friends about stupid dares, and it could always be worse

I'm one of those fortunate persons who doesn't react to poison ivy, poison oak, or sumac. My kid brother on the other hand, can look at the stuff and he breaks out.

Ahh, the days of childhood. I can think of twice where I needed silence from the little tattletale and threatened to give him an Indian burn with handfuls of poison ivy. Better than a pistol to the head, I tell ya.

Don't count on that TS. 9 out of 10 people do have negative reactions to poison ivy or sumac, though not always at the first few exposures.

I've used poison sumac in autumn floral arrangements because the leaves turn such beautiful colors. I always thought the "poison" part of the name just meant don't eat it! Apparently I've been lucky so far. I've had poison ivy on both hands and it was miserable enough that I have no intention of pushing that luck.

Go by you some hydrocortizone cream from your local pharmacy. Rub that **** all over you! Also go to the "girly bath" aisle and buy yourself some oatmeal bath. You will thank me later.

I've literally laid down in the stuff before. I genuinely don't have a reaction. I once (foolishly) tried to get a friend to pay me $50 to eat a salad of poison ivy. Fortunately for me, he was too much of a tightwad. I'm sure my innards wouldn't have enjoyed the experience, though it would have been an excellent test of my tolerance level to the stuff. Academically, that is.
