Anyone ever remember the time in California when the Electric companies artificially inflated the price of electricty by cutting production during periods of increase demand?

Well do ya?

This was one of the many transgressions Enron was guilty of. They created fake "congestion on the grid" that caused all those rolling brownouts.

If a group of individuals had conspired to knock out power to millions of people, it would have been called terrorism.

But a major corporation does it and it's merely fraud.

[sm]On a related note, Kozlowski got 8 to 25 years. Smiley: grin

Well then I accept your apology.

Forgive me,...

i think its bush's fault again...

he promised green peace tree huggin hippys to have a cirtain percentage of alternate energy sources by whatever year, so he got with the oil powers that be and made a deal with them that they could find some stupid excuses to raise gas prices to get the general public to "buy in" using alternate energy sources.

and hey, you get rich, i get re-elected, and shhhhhhh...you can slip me some bill under the counter.

conspiracys abound

Question: There have been hurricanes in the Florida region as long as I can remember, and I never ever remember gas prices going up as an effect of it. Why all of a sudden now is it big news?

It's because they are not allowed to run oil tankers into each other like they did in the past.

This is dumb! Why dont we re-open these refineries further inland? I understand its cheaper to ship it to the ones on the coast.. but DAMN! Come on!

Yeah, those big oil tankers have a hard time making it to Ohio for some reason. Just wait till the XJ6 model comes out! It's got wheels!

You can move the refined oil from the refinery to the port for loading on a ship. It doesn't *have* to be refined right there.

We manage to transport tons of refined oil all over the country all the time. How do you think the gas gets into the station's tanks in someplace like Denver? Not many ships docking there either...
