Jenison woman charged in crash that injured construction worker
(Grand Rapids, September 3, 2005, 7:00 p.m.) A Jenison woman has been charged in a car crash that critically injured a construction worker in May.
Kent County Prosecutors have charged 48 year-old Joanne Schaap with speeding in a construction zone, causing an accident.
The prosecutor tells 24 Hour News 8 her car's "black box" showed she was speeding on I-196 when her car hit and injured Brooks Holeman, who was filling a pothole.
Holeman spent nearly three weeks in a coma, and is still rehabilitating.
If convicted, Schaap could be sentenced to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.

This is the first I've read of "Black Box" data being used to file charges in a car accident. Has anyone else heard of this before?
