I'm not really giving anything away here. (It would be far easier to find a method of, say, sterilizing all humans or giving us all cancer, if the goal is to remove humans.)

If you saw any of the Dawn of the Dead movies personally I hope it happens like that. Fighting to survive banding together with others. Plus blasting the crap out of zombies. Think if you have a boring life now boom this happens it all turns around.
IMHO, Dawn of the Dead was the WORST zombie movie that I have ever seen... even Shawn of the Dead was better.

I am personally partial to the predictions of Nostradamus as signaling when our current civilization will perish. Surprisingly enough (and I am sure this is a known concept) it is arguable that all of us are in the midst of the final death throes. As I understand it (and I can't make any links I've only read this in books) in a few years from now the Big One will hit California and about a year later a large body from space will impact our planet and do to us what one similar did to the dinosaurs.
