I've decided that my current mattress/ box spring have got to go. I went with the SO to check out the Sleep Number beds in the mall the other day, liked what I saw. The demonstration was the deal sealer.

Anyone have any recommendations for alternatives? Anyone have a sleep number bed/used one and can vouch for the hefty price tag?

I will say this.

When you buy any bed... buy it firmer than you want.

I bought a bed that was just right in the store, sleep on it 3 months and it softens a bit. Not much, but a bit.

The attractiveness of the sleep number is that you don't have this problem, or if you do, dial it up another notch.

If you got the *****, buy it. The old peeps on tv seem to like it.

Smiley: laugh Did your parents read to you when you were a child? That was a reference to a classic childrens story.

Mattress buying; Ive heard of the sleep number beds but I havent tried them out. I got myself a new mattress three years ago and I love it. I could run up and find out the name of it, but if I do I may fall alseep on it and not come back downstairs

Those memory foam ones sure do feel nice in the store, but I have no clue how they hold up after a few months.

My pillow made of the same stuff has been with me for two hard years.

I liked the beds, but my wife didn't... so we didn't get one. 'Nuff said.

They are rather hard if you don't lie still. But the way they mold to you is incentive to lie still.

More 2c on the problem.

Christ, next time I want to call Neph a Nancy-boy, I'll just come out and say it. It's like teaching philosophy to a mandrill over here.

Just buy a used futon, you wuss.

I don't get you Joph. I came in here and asked a serious question and you flame for no reason. You're a pathetic loser who probably lives with his parents. If I wanted flames, I would have posted on Gamefaqs or in the Asylum. You're all a bunch of ****** You are so immature, why don't you try growing up and posting like a big boy. Go ahead and rate me down, I don't care about your precious karma.

I'm glad you said that.

You forgot your <sarcasm></sarcasm> tags.

Rookie mistake. Try not to forget in the future.

Where's the fun in that? Nothing like a zucinni or cucumber to liven up the bedroom in a boring marriage.

As to the bed, I've been debating this one as well. I've got an old box spring/mattress that I bought while in the military that I've had for almost 10 years now. It's not holding up too well. I've been looking at those tempurpedic jobbies. They look pretty sweet on the comercials.

My friend has a space foam and says it's awesome. Gets bloody expensive if you get the thicker ones though.

Just buy a used one off of e-bay.

They guarantee quality!

Unfortunately Nephs mattress problems have garnered more responses than any 2 Trickybeck threads in existence (did anyone ever reply to your political post?).

Anyways I found the perfect site for you to peruse for the new bed for You and Mrs Neph.
