Do you think you can/will go back after this break?

Very few people who found it difficult to return would have said "No, I probably won't ever go back" when they decided to take a "break". It's a fair question to ask but the answer won't be especially telling except in hindsight.

I agree. The question asks for some speculation on Bhod’s part.

He will need to follow thorugh as well.

I've been thinking about a couple different options.

  • Year off and save up and go back and finish it off

  • Take half a semester off, then go part time next semester and just try some courses that interest me

  • switching majors, I could take my anthro credits and use them to cover my minor, I have the required social sciences, humanities and science credits for any other BA program so I would only need the 60 credit hours (2 years rather than the 18 months im facing)

  • I also have my eye on the college in town. The Civ/CAD program sounds interesting and since they have a good work co-op program which pay pretty well.

  • I'm not to worried about returning to school. I took a year off when I graduated highschool and worked and saved up and managed to get back into the groove of things. Doing it again will be no problem.

Then what is stopping you? Don't let anyone else’s opinions stand in your way from what you want to do. It sounds to me as if a half year off could give you ample time to think about what you really want to do. You might even be able to stop and smell the roses a little along the way.

    blah blah blah

That's called growing up and entering the real world. It sucks. "laid back fun and friendly" as you put it is the way a child acts. Only after realizing that life is not about play, but about Work, then you evolve into "grumpy, surly". Rest assured it is your NEW "normal self."

[sm]but I'm prolly just saying that cause I dropped outa college too[sm]

If you don't finish school, you may just end up like me.

    Now, if that isn't motivation...

Taking a year or a semester off might work for you, but every single person that I know that did that didn't end up returning to school. To me, that's just a waste of time and money.

Finish with a degree. It doesn't matter which one, because simply obtaining a college degree says a lot about character and work ethic. However, if you hate your major, get the fuck out of it. I have many friends that changed majors after 3 or even 4 semesters and have done exceptionally well ever since.
