17 days left as a single man.

Pastor has been met and approved.
- DJ is paid
- Photographer is paid.
- Flowers came out to $400. Before some of you say OMFG $400 on flowers!, know that the $400 only bought flowers for the wedding party and the parents. That's it.
- Response cards are almost all in. Seems as though most of my family (which lives about 3000 miles away) won't be there, and her entire family will. Its going to be about 100 to 25. Seems as though some of her family didn't quite get that if you write 3 peoples names' on the invite, that doesn't mean you can write 9 on the response card.
- Picked up my ring. 1/30th the cost of her ring.
- Need to pick up alcohol.
- Apartment has been moved into and set up.
- Food is ready. Thank God its a family tradition of her that the family cooks for the wedding. With 8 brothers and sisters, its not that big of a deal.

Funny thing about the invites. A close friend of mine is getting married very shortly after I am. His wedding is running him about $100k. He spent $2k on this invites that look far crappier than the ones we bought at Target and added some ribbon and twine to. Mine cost me $80 for everything. $150 if you include postage.
Yes, $100,000 for one day. The service is in the rotunda of the city hall in SF. What do you expect?

Just need a couple small things and a marriage license and I should be good to go. My bachelor party is this weekend in S.F. About 10 of my buddies are taking me up there for punch and pie. No, there will not be any strippers/hookers so there won't be any good pictures. Jsut some plain old fashioned binge drinking I suppose.

I decided that in lieu of tuxes, I would buy dress shirts and ties for all my groomsmen. My tux would have been $125. I spent $175 buying shirts and ties for all 5 of them. Saved my parents $250 in tuxes as well. They are wearing black dress shirts with a really cool lime/pale lime tie. The bridesmaids are wearing the same lime/pale lime dresses. The dresses don't all match perfectly, but neither do the ties exactly. And advantage to the more casual "garden wedding" theme.

I need to write my vows too. That can be next weeks contest.

Let's start now...

In love, in love, in love

Girl you know it's true (girl)
Oh, oh, oh, I love you

I'm in love with you, girl
Cause I have on my mind
You're the one
I think about most everytime
And when you pack a smile
In everything you do
Don't you understand,girl,
This love is true

Your soft, silky hand all sweet and thin
It makes me want to hold
It again and again
You lighten up my day and
That's oh so true
Together we're one,
Separated we're two

To make you all mine,
All mine is my desire
Cause you contain a
Quality that I admire
You're pretty and simple,
You rule my world

So try to understand
I'm in love girl, in love
I'm so in love girl, in love
I'm just in love girl, and this is true

[CHORUS]
Girl you know it's true, oh, oh, oh
I love you
Yes you know it's true, oh, oh, oh
I love you (girls I love you)
Girl you know it's true

My love is for you
Girl you know it's true
My love is for you

It's a funny thing girl I can't explain
My eyes light up
When I hear your name
When you sweet, sweet voice rings in
My ears
I just can't wait girl, until you're here
And your positive outlook
I really enjoy
It's just like a curse between
A girl and a boy

These feelings I get, I often wonder why
So I though I might discuss this,
Girl, just you and I
It's not what you wear or
That I think you're a star
The reason that I like you girl is for
What you are
If I said I'd think about it,
You rule my world

So try to understand
I'm in love girl, in love
I'm so in love girl, in love
I'm just in love girl, in love
And this is true

[CHORUS]

Girl you know it's true
My love is for you
Girl you know it's true
My love is for you

Girl you know it
Yes you know it's
TRUE!

Oh...and before anyone asks, I am estimating it at around $5000 for everything, including the dress.

That doesn't include the ring though. That almost as much as the whole ceremony Smiley: mad

The ring is always the hard part -.-, cause if u dont get the right one they will ***** about it forever...Or until u get divorced, which in my case was about a year later.

Same boat as him, walked down the isle, 9 1/2 months later while on deployment I get a "electric dear john letter." On a positive note, I saved a lot of money!

yep, weddings are expensive.

i was lucky, my father in law paid for mine. the bill was over 60k atleast.

being a practical person, i would have prefered a check for 60k for a down payment on a house and do a Vagas drive through..but....im sure i will feel differant when MY daughter gets married.

enjoy. dont think about the money. dont think about the problems comming from not having any. just enjoy the moment. it will be one of the few you get in life. drink like a fish, and eat like its thanksgiving. she will be too tired for fun in the sack after its over anyway, wait till the morning...and after showers and mouthwash.

Been gone 17 days
17 long nights
The main drag is knowing that
You're holding someone else tight

I wanna to call u everyday
And beg u 2 be near me
But I know your head is underwater
I doubt that u could hear me

My wedding is also on September 3rd. Damn you Nepth! I bought a house and we're paying for the wedding ourselves, so total costs are only around 1500 dollars. You're right about the ring though, 3000 dollars and I got a huge discount because my mom's a jeweler.

What time are you getting married? Mine's at 12:02.

Around 6:30 PM. Its kinda hot where I live, so the later the better. Its a short 30 minute service followed by dinner, so people might be a tad bit hungry.

So Neph what do you think is going to cost more, the wedding and ring or the eventual divorce and alimony?

I know someone who payed 70k for one day. The wedding was superficial at best. The bride even stopped to pause for a quick pic on her way down with her father.

Hope your day ... I mean her day goes well. Sounds like it will be nice.
