Watch your back man. I had a friend that put his wife through nursing school and all she ever did was study when they were together. As soon as she got her nursing license she left. Women that put themselves over the well being of the family aren't worth it.

My girlfriend's sister was doing this. Her (commonlaw) husband worked three jobs while she went to nursing school. Then she had 2 children; now she's getting a very luractive nursing job while he goes back to school. It does work.

And thanks for the compliment. Smiley: cool I often find myself conflicted in that I hold down the same jobs that all my friends and peers do, when they went through several years of college and I went through none.

Ideally, though, I would take my girlfriend's job any day of the week (video store clerk/manager) and become the next Quentin Tarantino.

Judging solely from your posts, I can only guess you were graded on a curve and that your class consisted of you, a cat, two potted plants and a dish-sponge.

And the cat made Valedictorian

Edited 'cause they don't teach forum code in college

Taught seniors U.S. government one year at a public school and by the end of that year there wasn't a chance in h*ll i'd ever consider doing that again, for aprox 30k no less and they wonder why the publicly educated are such imbeciles.

Smiley: yikes

It isn't the money they pay the teachers that makes publicly educated people morans. It's the people they hire.

That must have been the easiest job in the world for you, v. I can see the entire course work:

My father went to night school, to get his business degree. He was working in th mail room at the time. Now he has a master's degree from Kellogg at Northwestern, the number one business school in the nation. If I were you I'd go back to school.

Go for it Sab. I went back to school as an older student and I appreciated everything I learned much more because of the sacrifice it took. It is a significant investment (both time and money) but you're investing in yourself, so at least you control your returns.

Good luck.

Any time you decide you're too old to learn something, it's time to curl up and die.

If you really want to go to school, go. If you enroll and then pansy out, now THAT would be something to be ashamed of.

As others have said, go the night school route. The students are a little older, and more importantly, they're overwhelmingly there because they want to be. They're often also paying for the classes out of pocket, so they're not there to party.

When I was taking classes at the U, I started in the daytime program with the other 18-20 year olds, then switched to evening courses. The difference in the quality of the classes was unbelievable. The "kids" would all sit silent and glassy eyed, never asking questions, never offering opinions, never answering questions, never expressing the slightest bit of interest or enthusiasm in the subject matter, never participating unless absolutely forced to by the professor. Those classes seemed to drag on for an eternity.

In contrast the classes with the more adult crowd were no picnic, but people participated. The students were far less timid and seemed more determined not to waste the opportunity the classes were affording them.

And Virus, nice to see you blowing hot air, as usual. Don't believe me about the value of a college degree. Check out the statistics about wages of people with degrees versus without.

This only illustrates the vast difference between our mentality towards life. You're looking for the better "wage" while I'm contemplating what i'm going to be doing when i'm retired at 35. It's sad really.

I know I'm totally chiming in late here, so excuse me for restating what most have already said. But Sabo, never let something as silly as age deterr you from bettering yourself. You will not be the only older person at school trying to make yourself a more educated person, and knowing you, I think you could easily handle it even if you were. If it is something you erally want to do, and you are willing to work for it, get your *** into school and work hard. Once you have that degree in your hand you will know it was all worth it.

About the only thing any of you has said that's worth a d*mn. Expounding on that; "bettering yourself" is not dependent on which school you attend, but rather are those actions in accordance with obtaining your goals. And your goals should never be confined by something as vulgar as a lack of money.
