I ask "why bother?"

..and ig it's to have children... then waht do we have children for?

perpetuation of the species?
Waht do we subconsiously want to perpetuate the species for?

Preservation?
Doesn't make too much sense since we still Die.

Merely instinct?
We are are just animals then.

In that case DO we have the same "Reasons for existance" than any other organism on the planet?

how exiting.. Smiley: rolleyes

I think for all the reasons one can come up with not having children, there is one reason I'm glad I did have them,

The bond I have with each of them, gives me more joy then heartache. It done't matter what they decide to do with their life, I know I'm blessed to have raise them.

I just spent a very hot and long day taking my 3 year old grandson to ArtScape. Just hearing him laugh at a Punch and Judy show makes all the walking and pain I know I'll feel tomorrow, worth it. we enjoyed Blues and pulled pork. Got our picture taken with Shrek and drank the lemonaid like he ask about yesterday. All of us will remember different things over the years, and I'm glad I was alive and able to give him a day out, when his sister is too young to be out in the heat.

I was able to send home a very happy boy and let his mom and dad have a day to rest and enjoy his baby sister.

I'll never regret having my children.

we are put here to know pain and suffering, so that we might know peace and tranquility when we see it.

we are put here to rise above our self interest to become more than we are, or to sink into darkness by becoming entangeled in the worldly pressures that try to destroy our true nature.

our purpose is to do battle with ourselves. to exorcise the demons or evil within each and every one of us or to succomb to the trappings of this world.

to sink or swim. to be saved or be damned.

your purpose. ignore it at your own risk.

I think there is somthing to be said about balance. My idea is that our souls are straddling many many "moments" in time, more specifically the "moments" of your existance upon the earth... such is waht we recognize as reincarnation.. ect...

Now the key at that point in to understand How your "place" in your "moment" that your soul is Focused on is balanced with the other moments of your existance that you are not focused on. Many people only focus on the present, others dwell in the past or the future.

Your problem may be that you are shifting from viewing things objectivly from outide of the present moment and building a system for that particular state, but then your "focus" will shift to a "first person" present state and building a system of dealing with that.. so you have 2 differnt methods of dealing with existance in conflict causing this discord in yourself. Pick a lane.

Smiley: twocents

or not

Reason for existence: FUN, FUN, and more fun. Any way you can get your kicks, get them, as long as your kicks don't deliberately hurt others. I think the reasons for existence have changed throughout history. There have been times where existence was just hunte, gather, farm, procreate, and sleep. During those times, people still found outlets to have fun, but the lack of convenient living available to them made fun and the time available for fun lacking.

Today, there is no excuse for not having fun, whether it be posting on a message board, playing your favorite video game, playing with the chemistry of your mind with some substance of ill repute, having sex with life partner or multiple partners, having kids and raising them and hoping they grow up free and healthy and sane, ect. Yes, three meals and a roof are important so earning a living is important. Still, the ultimate reason for existence should be fun, fun, and more fun, with work being used as a tool to facilitate fun.

The people that like to attribute larger then life reasons for existence are those that are scared of the unknown and death. Just enjoy life for as long as you've got it.

There's no longer a reason to exist from a purely biological (IE, procreation) standpoint. The persistence of the human race is more or less guaranteed as the majority of people will end up breeding.

My reason for continuing existence is purely to enjoy life in any capacity that I see fit.

Any being of free will with half a brain can come to their own conclusion on the meaning of life. It's not a profound question in any sense. Find your own reason, if you're too ******* stupid to believe that there is some universal answer to the question awaiting discovery, you should probably just kill yourself now, because you're missing the point.
