A question came up in my workcenter recently that immediately made me think if you guys and how you would answer it.

"If you could spend one single day in the company of three people, not of divine or arguably divine origin, for one day each, who would they be and why?"

Just struck me as an interesting question.

Answer, or don't. For your own amusement.

Day one: Pablo Neruda. He'd have to go on day one, or else I would be risking sex with an extremely ugly genius.

Day two: Ghandi. I'd love to chitchat with him, see what that kind of calm feels like. Plus by day two I'd be starving, and he could help me out with that.

Day three: Churchill. He seemed to have his shit together, and I bet he'd be a riot.

When someone poses one of these questions (usually of the "desert island" variety), people always turn their thoughts toward great historical figures, celebrities, artists, musicians, etc.

I honestly wouldn't want to spend time with any of those. What would George Washington or Gandhi and I have to talk about? Meeting a celebrity? Bleh. I wouldn't even want to meet a celebrity that I idolize. It would just be an awkward exchange of pleasantries at best, utter disappointment at your idol having a ****** personality at worst.

The three people I would want to spend a day with? My three closest friends.

No offense to my friends but I can already spend the day with them. That sounds like freeing a genie and asking for a bag of Doritos.

Day 1: Douglas Adams. By all accounts, he seemed like an intelligent and down to earth guy. If I could get past saying "your books were swell!", I bet he'd have a day's worth of interesting conversation in him on current events, etc.

Day 2: Cleopatra. I have no idea what I'd say to her for a day and she'd probably just want to go shopping but, hey, while Tricky's hanging out with Joe Schmoe I can say I'm hanging out with Clee. Oh. Patrah.

Day 3: My grandmother on my father's side. Without getting overly sentimental, she was probably the most gentle, caring and yet strong-willed women I've known. Which weren't traits I appreciated prior to her death but it'd be nice to talk to her today.

Ive gone over this story before but then again this exact question has been proposed numerous times before by those unable to think up anything original so I will just give the same ole rehash.

Grade 12 at a Roman Catholic school, the entire senior class angered the administration by dodging out on a religious retreat. We got handed a giant bundle of papers including essays, projects all entailing religion or stuff covered at retreat etc. Got told "finish this big by end of school year or be prepared not to graduate".

The one essay question was "If you could meet any historical figure who would it be and why?".

My essay was short. Here it is in its entirety

"I would want to meet Jesus. So I could show him this project and tell him about this situation and ask him if that was why he died on the cross."

It didnt go over well with the administration when they read it.

Why, Jack, Janet, and Chrissy of course! That reminds me of the time they had that misunderstanding. Good times.

Good story Bhodi. Fight da powa!

Let's see...very superficial, but I'd like to spend a day with Jessica Alba. She's gorgeous, but she'd probably talk about saving Dolphins the whole time. If you visit her website you'll see why.

Orson Scott Card. Writer of "Ender's Saga". To be able to come up with that muny fantastic new ideas and lines of thinking and put them together in a way that's made me read it 3 times, he's gotta be a good guy to hang out with. I'd be a writter if I had anything interesting to write about.

Fictional Character Alert!: Cloud Strife. His sword is badass! Couldn't really think of a 3rd person to "hang with", so it's Cloud. I live my life vicariously through the adventurous worlds found in video games, and Final Fantasy has some great adventures, with FFVII having one of the best storylines...ok, I'm a nerd...so?

Trickybeck brings up a good point.... so I'll be different like everyone else and pick Jack the Ripper, Adolf Hitler, and Caligula. Am I speaking with their ghosts or do I get to pick what age they are when we all hang out? I'm thinking it would be best when they're all 21 so we can go hang out at a bar or something and I can check out their various styles of picking up chicks.... or dudes?? Hmm....

If it has to be after they've done their respective deeds and they've gained their infamous status, then I'll assume they'll materialize at whatever their peak infamy age may be. I'd do a turn around trip to Vegas.... Fear and Loathing style. I am assuming of course that they'd all meet me at my apartment in San Diego. I'll drive of course, but I'm making Adolf pay for gas.

If for some reason they weren't available that day because one of you guys wanted them, I would instead settle for John Wilkes Booth, Lee Harvey Oswald, and James Earl Ray. No Vegas trip though. We would head south to Tijuana for a donkey show and bacon wrapped hot dogs.

Good choice, I hear Cleopatra was a tramp. You'd probably get some.

Mr. Blare: UK Prime Minister why? I see a lot of Harry S. Truman in him. Neither of them are to be trifled with. I wish the last 5 US presidents had half the balls this guy has.

President Harry S. Truman why? He was a badass 'nuff said.

Oskar Schindler Why? Do some research and find out.

1. Bliar. B-L-I-A-R. And why would you want previous Prezidents to be mono-testicular like Dubya?

2. You know what the 'S' stands for right? "Cunt". That's what it stands for.

3. He makes cool elevators?
