sony reaching outFollow

just got a letter from sony yesterday. in it was the map we were promised at launch, and a letter offering a free 10 day trial to come back and check out their advances, starting from the time i log back on.

its nice to see them reaching out. it would have been nicer if they tried reaching out before they started loosing customers though.

reeks a bit of desperation, but atleast it is an acknowledgment of customer importance and a desire to reach out. if companies didnt wait till they were in dire straits before figuring that out, and act accordingly, alot fewer bussiness would reach the dire straits.

i might go check it out just because they asked. still playing WOW atm, and being i only log on for an hour or two mabe 2 times a week, it fits my playstyle. at that rate, i would be stuck in a EQ2 zone for months looking at the same sceanry before moving on. atleast with WOW there are alot more places to go for any particular level.

shrug. might check it out anyway. miss my ogre palidin a little.

EQ2 really didnt turn my fancy, seems a lot of the others on the board either went back to the original EQ or WoW or other MMO's.

SOE first attacked Blizzard for game downtime at launch then they tried a number of different methods to try to win back customers. It would be interesting to see the numbers of customers lost.

My husband got one of those letters, too.

And I just re-opened my EQ2 account a couple of days ago. I still like it. I quit because I was playing CoH for a little while, and I don't have time for 2 online games.

I'm still playing it. I tried the WoW 10 day free trial. WoW was better than I expected it to be, but it was far too easy for anyone who likes to be challenged. I could forsee fast burnout in that game.

EQ2 isn't perfect by a long stretch, but I'm still convinced it's a better game.

And for those of you telling us to go to the gaming forum, hush. Some of us only post in the ***-ylum, so you're stuck with this misplaced thread.

P.S. Hey Nadenu, me and the hubby are still on the Blackburrow server. My main is only level 29. You can catch up in no time. Smiley: clown

I gave up my mmorpg habit a while ago. Start of the year, maybe? I had EQ2, the colector's edition with the dragon thingy, even. Never cashed it in, which goes to show my interest was really waning there at the end.

At this point, they'd have to offer free blowjobs to get me back. Per login session.

this is no different then SoE/Sony waiting until the warriors threattend to go on strike and bring down several servers that they addressed some of the class imballance they created back with the SoV expansion that only grew worse with each patch and expansion.

heck just look at SoL and how long it took them to put in the game in a working way what was advertized on the box. 9 months for the bizzar to open, and an other 9 months to get it working correctly without it crashing every few hours.

this is no differnt. SoE/Sony is just one huge company that does not care anything about its customers until they have started leaving, then SoE/Sony will start to spend some time to 'appease' the masses in the hopes of pulling customers back so SoE/Sony can continue to lie to them and cheat them by selling a prodect they are not giving.

in the US this is called bait and switch and is against the law, yet due to the finnancial power that is Sony, they do not get in trouble for it.

bloody b4st4rds.

i refuse to buy anything that is made by Sony again.

i think sony did an outstanding job with what they set out to do.

the biggest problem with EQ1 started with the first expansion. in their effort to challenge players, adn adding more and more content to challenge them as they bested the game, they left alot of players behind.

i think sony realized they didnt address this player base enough in EQ2 and probably has made some effort to correct that.

but i think they did it too late. WOW beat them to the punch and did an outstanding job for this playerbase.

i think all gaming companies can learn from this. want to know what the people want? ask the people.

blizzard has a test server where you can duplicate your character on and play to test changes to the game. they get alot of feed back before making the change live.

keping the customer involved. EQ1 would ask, but then, do what they intended anyway even if the feed back was mostly negative. they also lost alot of credibility when they started censoring their web site.

the diferance between then and now is people have a choice now. lots of choices.

im still a little bent with EQ2 however with their bait and switch. they advertised the game as designed for the 2 hour play session. and it is for the first 10 to 15 levels. then it changes to a EQ1 expansion clone. a class dependant "challenge" that leaves alot of people behind if you dont spend ATLEAST 2 hours or more playing.

the letter is nice. and i may actually do the 10 free days. but unless they have gotten rid of the stupid zone access mini raids to move to another area, and made some decent quests that od not require begging for help for more time than you actually play, both, it will be a short trip.
