Does it exist?
Yes. But not in a teritorial sense. America as a governmetn desires power and influence, without the burednsome task of maintiaining land with a negitive tax base in perpetuity.
- Is our Government lying to us about their intentions in other countries?
Probably not. No real reason to, and big concequinces if they did and were caught.
- Through what means could we be building our "Empire"?
By getting other people to answer our homework questions. And our ever present controll of the worlds electronic communication and transportation infrastructure. I.e. the internet, Aviation, sea traffic in and around our areas of interest, etc.
- Could there be historical clues that would point to it?
Yes.
If it does exist, how is it affecting the world?
Eh, they ***** aobut it alot, but overall, it's probably less harmfull then letting, oh, i dunno, China be in charge.
- What could be the detrimental effects of American Imperialism on the American people? What could be positive effects?
All of europe, South america, Africa (except for Liberia) and a large portion of Asia is irritated at us. that could be viewed as a benifit or a detrement, depending on the day.
- How would it influencing other countries?
By bringing more reactionary, anti US forces to power in unfriendly and indifferent governments. I think it's actually on purpose. **** everyone off and see who says what. Keep your friends close, and your enimies closer and all. In the silent majority, we didn't know where the threats were. now we do, except for the smart ones who keep silent and act like our friends, right up until that one singular opertunity to strike.
- How could it reflect upon the American citizens?
France hates us. Germany is puzzled by us, The U.K. is annoyed but focused on Blair, and the Netherlands raised the pricve of our Lutefisk imports out of spite. On the other hand, the peoiple of Oman loooove us!
If it exists, is American Imperialism effective and succesful?
More so than some, less than other possibilities.
- How could it be benefitting the American people? The Economy? The rulers?
Security. If we control the world, and to a certain extent, we do, we eliminate the possibility of direct attack. its the sneaky ones we have to worry aobut then though. Ask the romans how that dominion thing worked out for them in the end...
- Is it benefitting other mcountries as well?
Our allies? sure. Especially Europe, no matter how much they protest to the contrary. Stable trade, No fear of invasion, etc.
