So I was in Madrid (Spain, for you ignorant Yanks) this weekend.

A wonderful City that my aging parents had never seen so I thought they deserved a treat.

All was well apart from our Saturday evening being a tad spoiled by a Bombing by Basque separatists.

Me: Want to go to the theatre?
Dad: No son. I want to see the Olympic Stadium that they're still building for 2012 even though they know they're out of the running.
Me: OK pop. Let's go

time passes

Dad:
Impressive isn't it? Even though it's not fiinished you can see how much B00M!!eleventyone11!!
Me: WTF!
Civil Guards: Oops!

So anyone else been the subject of a terrorist bombing this week, or was it just me?

You really have to wonder if sloppy revolutionary movements really want to make governments more authoritarian nowadays.. I mean, at least the Yanks were able to make an actual war to seperate from the British Empire.

What kind of limp di[/u]ck thinks that a bomb here or there marks a revolution? Thats some weak sauce if ever weak sauce was ever sauced.

No-one hurt. ETA called at 5pm and it was due to go boom at 6pm.

We arrived and were admiring the emerging architecture as the workers were streaming from the site. We assumed they'd finished work for the day.

No-one was hurt, but the shock waves knocked a few folks off their feet. It was a surprise really. Based on conversations with locals, the taxi dropped us off just after the evacuation announcements so it just looked like an enthusiastic workers exodus at the end of a day. Bloody scary though. I needed 6 beers and a few Cuba Libres to recover Smiley: wink

not this week, but i have survived several terrorist attacks and have missed several by less then 5min.

(all three in and around Frankfurt Germany in the late 80s)

1st time was a car bomb.

on the Rhine Main AB i had walked past the car about 5min before it went boom. that was an eye opener as i had only been in Germany for less then 3 months at this point in time.

2nd time was an other car bomb.

in the city of Langen about 4 blocks from my home i was about 2 blocks away form an other bomb going off. that scared the cr4p out of me and knocked me down from 2 blocks away from the explosion.

3rd time and most scary for me was an assassination on a service man.

this was in Frankfurt in one of the U-bahns(subway stations running North and South IIRC) i took the same train home every Wed. night as i was a member of the highschool ROTC program and wore Army BDUs with that 35-10 haircut (the military hair cut short hair off the ears and off the collar) and looked all the look of an active duty service man. we got out a bit early for what ever reason that wed. so i was able to catch an earlier train. the next train (15min later) a service man was given a cuban necktie. his throught was slit from ear to ear and his tongue pulled out to hang down his chest.

that happend about 6months before i joined the USAF and flew back stateside to start my active service. that one still haunts me to this day much more so then the car bombings. had i gotten out of ROTC at my normal time that night, that very well could of been me dead instead of the other guy.

i am glad you are alive and you and your folks are unhurt.
