Well, I managed to get a virus on one of my computers. Nasty little bugger it is - now, my Norton won't run, nor will Zone Alarm, and I can't seem to clean my computer of it. I tried to go to the Symantec page this morning and I can't access it. It seems like this virus screws up my internet access.

I am really useless when it comes to these things. Any suggestions?

boot pC in safe mode and delete all files in Temp Folder and Temporary Internet files and see if Nortons opens.

I don't know why Nortons wouldn't have caught it.. you keeping that thing updated?

Good, good. My next idea was going to involve rubbing Mia's toes over the keyboard.

Yes, well, you two are just girls after all. Sit there looking pretty and let the men discuss how to fix things.

Trendmicro offers a good online scan and repair as well if Panda doesn't work for you.

You sure that it's an actual virus you have and not just some spyware that corrupted one of your files? :-\

If you can get to the internet, start with housecall.trendmicro.com and see if you can at least get a name for the virus as to which one you have. If you cannot get to the internet, the easiest thing to do at that point would be to find a second, working computer you can borrow, make sure that computer has all it's service packs and antivirus files up to date, and then remove the hard drive from the infected computer, set it to slave mode, and pop it into the working computer and use the working one to clean the drive.

Alternativly, you can download the latest norton virus defininitions on another computer, transfer them in on a disk to the infected one, reinstall antivirus and update the virus definitions before the virus can kill norton again.

Sounds like you have a fairly nasty one there. If you can get me the name of what type it is, I can give you more detailed instructions for killing it.

Thanks Kao. I could access the internet this morning but now I can't. I can't access any anti-virus sites anyway.

Yay! I love viruses.
