Here's another one.

Come on fuckers. Isn't it time to ignore the dickwad trolls and get some decent stuff on here again.

How about the red-necks come to the defence of more brain-dead trigger-happy GI's, while the dummycrat liberal limp-wrists can bleed their hearts all over the board.

Which side are you on Nobby? hehe Just playin, I haven't read enough of your posts to figure it out. Smiley: laugh

EDIT- now for my real response after reading the article.

Well, I'm sure there are widespread rules about approaching a U.S. checkpoint. Surely they didn't need to keep on hauling *** to avoid being captured or whatever (of course we don't know ALL the facts yet). Sounds like pure stupidity on the car in question (how can they not know the "rules" after all this time). Too many troops from all factions have been hurt/killed in similar incidents involving carbombs n such. I don't know, just me rambling from work hehe

Personally If I were in a car approaching a checkpoint in that setting.. I would have followed the rules to the letter..

If I were manning the checkpoint.. you can bet your *** I would have fired at a speeding car which ignored all attempts to stop it. Call it "car bomb self preservation syndrome"..

However since all the facts are not in yet.. who knows.. maybe the soldiers were drunk and just lost thier minds..

I thought it was honorable the way the agent traveling with Sgrena shielded her from fire with his body causing him to lose his life. If I gotta go violently.. thats the way I wanna go dammit!!

I would have fired on it too if it didnt stop. When you're out in a hostile environment the rule that really counts is "Me, or them."

As much as this story is a strategy, it is a well known tactic of the terrorists to take a car full of expllosives and make it barrel through to a target... Which is one of the main points of having the road blocks in the first place. The soldier was simply following orders.

Im with Lefein on this one.

The news reports I read indicated that they tried flagging down the car and then some warning shots and finally they shot at the engine block of the car.

If you are in Iraq and driving full speed at an american check point you are gonna bring yourself trouble. There should have been some communications between the Americans and the Italians as to what was happening and the Italian secret service should have known better.

Of course that is preliminary, of course a situation like this should be investigated as should any friendly fire incident but from what I have read so far (which isnt extensive justthe stuff from when it first happened) I dont see anything to damning for the Americans. Its a shame and sucks beyond imagining but it appears the US troops did try to warn them.

Same here. It's unfortunate and tragic but in a war zone when the people at the check point start waving their arms around and shooting into the air it might be a good idea to at least stop for a second and see if they stop shooting.

I tend to agree, but I'm not going to let that get in the way of a cheap shot at an army with a track record of poor training, ill-discipline and a disregard for civilian rights.

In this case any military would have done the same, but I'll still call em dickwads 'cause I can.

Anywho, it was only an Eye-talian so it doesn't really matter.

My grandfather used to say, "Never let a day go by without punching him."

Or in this case, shooting him.
