I sincerely hope I don't meet any of you in real life, but i'm curious as to who has met in real life, and if any of your in-forum differences made conversation awkward like it did in all my perverted dreams about all of you, especially yanari, woof!

LOL I haven't met anyone in real life, I think it is safer this way! My fantasies are my own, and there is no hope of reality intruding. Although I do really enjoy seeing the baby pictures of our fellow asylumnites offspring!

Hint Hint, you parents are slipping! No Christmas photos and we are rapidly approaching Easter!

I tend to think of it as a cross between a chuckle and a snort.

I've only met a couple people, but I don't really have in-forum differences with people so it didn't matter

If it's still on, I'm up for Allanois '05 in March. I'm headed home for Spring Break, and I'd love to grab some lunch with those of you in the Chicagoland area.

Jophiel, Trickybeck, any ideas?

How can a clever computer program meet people in real life? Smiley: confused

I think Tricky is going out of town for Spring Break but it's not like I'm travelling anywhere.

My wife and I were wedding djs/entertainers/mc/idiots.. for more than 15 years. We had a decent little enterprise going for a while, and finally gave it up a couple of years ago..

By far the absolute worst event I ever had the misfortune of contracting, was an internet chat room party..

These people had thier cute little name tags on.. "kittycat23" "Gorrillamydreams" "Wetbar26" etc.. Nobody was really talking... they seemed afraid to start a conversation.. after dinner we start our interactive segment... and nothing... they would not budge.. they were scared to death..

After repeated attempts to get it going.. we finally decided Eff that! let them sit.. damn.. (did we get paid yet?)

My wife made the comment to me.. "I had a dream we had to host a funeral.. and I cant wake up!!"

Meeting people on the internet? with a few exceptions.. Bad Idea..

I've yet to meet anyone from here but I've done the forum meeting thing before. Was actually a good bit of fun, the first time we got a back room at a bar with some couches and pretty much drank and chatted the night away. Been to several after that but gradually the "theme" started shifting from 8-10 people having a beer and talking intelligently to 15-20 people largely looking to hook up and get laid. While I'm not adverse to getting laid, it's not my primary reason for hitting web forums or meeting the people therein.

That said, that first night there was a young lady there seemed perhaps interested in yours truely but I was still with the ex at the time... blast and damn it.

Here's an idea:

Try voicing an opinion that doesn't end in "BANNED, mother f'ucker!"

I would be willing to bet we could find one or two of us who vehemently disagree with you on a couple of things.

Oh, and Drac, no, I haven't met anyone from this particular message board, though Grady and Yan Yan San apparantly live within hollerin distance of me. Should I ever come to your side of the pond, your old man would be high on my list of people I'd rather have a pint with than be, say, molested by a distant royal. Assuming of course he had the good sense to leave you in your cage.

Nobs, you're right, but the requisite condolences none the less.

I met my husband online. And the members of the chat room that we used to visit had regular monthly get-togethers that used to be a lot of fun for a while.

But I doubt very seriously that I'll ever meet any of you. I'm too cheap to travel and let's face it: none of you are coming to TN, lol

I've met online buddies before. Hell, I lost my virginity to a chick I met on IRC. Alas, the days of driving cross-country for some poon are long gone.

Met Smash, Totem and Thundra in L.A. once. It was fun, we mostly talked about the forum, the creatures who post on it and such. It was no more awkward then meeting anyone else you don't know, you walk up say hi and hope you didn't just introduce yourself to a serial killer.

Met Danalog and Smoggy.

It's kinda like a cross between a blind date and a job interview, mixed with a dash of meeeting a celebrity..because as I see it, you all border on mythological from where I'm sitting.

have yet to meet spawned, although we've been juggling with the idea of getting together for a jam session or waht have you.... btw spawned, most of my instruments are lent out at the moment cause I'm dumb like that, but if you have enough equipment for us to jam anyway let me know (if you give a **** Smiley: wink) if not we can always just get johnny blazed.
