I agree. After spending a 10 hour day trying to figure out why ATI's latest Catalyst driver still causes infinite loops when writing to cache I could kill just about anyone on the way home.

Underpowered cars, poorly designed roads, exploding population, a severe lack of decent public transportation and the omni-present American sense of entitlement.

I'm pretty sure that I can never be made happy on the road. People who drive slower than me suck, people who drive too fast suck, people who don't signal suck, people who signal too long suck, people who are over-cautious suck and so do people who are cavalier.

Everyone sucks. Yay!

I drive like a grandma I've been told. ; ; I don't think I do but I guess majority wins. So it is official. I suck at driving.

You have your over aggressive drivers and your over defensive drivers. The aggressive drivers cut people off, haul ***, don't signal, hit the brakes at the last second, etc.

The defensive are the ones going like ten under the speed limit, take turns way too slow, always signal, ride their breaks, etc.

I myself tend to be aggressive yet cautious. I'm not over aggressive but I'm not over defensive. I'm pretty well balanced.

It also depends on which genre of people I encounter on the road. Over defensive drivers **** me off severely so I tend to get angry and become more aggressive (yet cautious, mind you) due to me wanting to get away from the idiots who think that they own the road.

It's funny how that works because if you ask anyone to rate their driving skills they will almost always tell you they are above average. How is it that everyone can be above average?

Everyone's way is right in their own eyes. The people that drive slower than me are idiots, the ones that drive faster are maniacs.

Is that why my Radeon 9600 Pro keeps crashing/locking up in EQ/EQ2?

It's very likely. Check your Event viewer for this stop error. Disabling Fast Write in the ATI driver helps for some people. Others just enable the ATI recovery feature and it works after crashing once. I have yet to see one solution that works for everyone and I have spent allot of time on this issue.

How do I disable the Fast Write?

The Engine Recovery was working up to a point, but when it would crap out then recover 5 times in half an hour it then decided to hang the system completely.

I've tried turning off the Catalyst AGP controller, changing the AGP aperture and frequency rates in BIOS, some of the advanced settings in EQ (I can't remember specifically now) and while it doesn't crash repeatedly now, it does freeze up on occasion. The current solution is for my girlfriend to bring her GeForce fx5700 over when we're playing; she's getting one for me too, now.

Anyone want to buy a slightly used Radeon 9600? Smiley: grin Works fine for everything except Everquest/EQ2.

Never had an ATI card, but I'm sure that would be a bios setting.

I know it is on both my ABit mobos at home. I remember seeing it: Disable Fast Write Caching Y/N?

Right click on desktop ->Display Properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> SmartGart tab -> uncheck the box for fast write.
