You also have this great trick of deluding yoursleves that you have more power and influence than you actually do. Until fantasy and reality converge you can keep yourselves amused watching FOX. =)
We regularly invade and occupy entire nations. While politically and morally questionable, it does imply quite a bit of power and influence.
We are so powerful and influential, our economy is more important than the environment. If we cut our greenhouse gas emissions then the entire world's socio-economic structure would collapse.
We are so powerful and influential, we have the longest un-guarded national border in the world, with a country that is actually bigger than us (in land size at least).
We are so powerful and influential that people die by the truckload (or boatload) just for a chance to set foot upon our land.
We are so powerful and influential that billions of people want to kill us in envy.
We are so powerful and influential that our people are largely the most arrogant and obnoxious in the world.
Me, I could stand for a little less power and influence, in exchange for a little more international goodwill and fellowship.
The only thing I watch on FOX is Arrested Development.
