"One Tree Hill", U2:

We turn away to face the cold, enduring chill
As the day begs the night for mercy love
The sun so bright, it leaves no shadows
Only scars carved into stone on the face of earth
The moon is up and over One Tree Hill
We see the sun go down in your eyes

And in the world, a heart of darkness, a fire zone
Where poets speak their heart, then bleed for it
Jara sang, his song a weapon in the hands of love
You know his blood still cries from the ground

I don't believe in painted roses or bleeding hearts
While bullets rape the night of the merciful
I'll see you again when the stars fall from the sky
And the moon has turned red over One Tree Hill

Johnny Cash: Hung my Head

Awww damnit! I knew I was forgetting someone!!! Johnny Cash sings a lot of songs (Especially Personal Jesus) that are comforting to me. He's the closest thing to country music I like.

^^ I am listening to this right now. I was going to say that pretty much every song on that album is good and could be considered a "comfort" song. If you have time, grab a copy of this mixed album. It's very good.

Where can I hear a sample of Ms. Fahl? Since I live in the sticks now, radio stations around here don't play anything that isn't mainstream, so my new music experience is a bit limited.

Me too! I love that one. I used to play it looped at work (till it drove my supervisor crazy)

Do you have any songs that are just familiar and comforting to you?

Recently for me it's been Sarah McLachlan's "I Will Remember You."
I have to listen to it at least once per day, or I don't feel right. Something about it just soothes me, makes me want to curl up in the fetal position. I'm sure I'll get sick of it after a while, but for now it's like an addiction.

What kind of gay foo-foo thread is this?

I always listen to DMB on the way to work.

I went thru a phase about a year ago where I had to listen to Sarah Brightman at least twice a day or I didn't feel complete. It's better now.

If I'm feeling really mellow i'll listen to

Led Zeppelin - Misty Mountian Hop
Neil Young - Old Man
CSNY - Ohio
DMB - Lie in our Graves
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon (whole album)
Candlebox - You

There is more

I listen to Mary Fahl now to, as does my wife. Smiley: wink

+5 Fahl!

And, with that, I've just done a better job of promoting her than Sony Music did for the entire career length of October Project.

Lost in Space By Paul Hardcastle and the Jazzmasters puts me in the ultimate zone of chill. No matter what happens, that song will make me melt into a peaceful stupor.

There is a song that I really like butI have no idea who sings it and I have no idea what it is called.

I have it on a blank tape, I bought at a yard sale years ago.

The verse is something like, "They call me the wild rose, why they call me this I do not know, they call me the wild rose but my name was Eliza Day."

It is a woman and a man singing it, it is a beautiful song, anyone know who it is? If so, please let me know.
