What makes one smart? There are obviously differing opinions and perceptions we have. In my opinion, "Thinking outside the box" and someone who is logical will be the most intellectually advanced. Some people think that someone who is smart, is witty, or mabye someone who is a 'good' decision maker.

I know that I am really asking for it, throwing this topic around. And I know all to well that every prick on this board is going belt out some halfass post they think is 'witty'.

I think the word smart encompasses more then one angle of intelligence. You can be book smart, street smart, witty, logical, and all these would be considered "smart."

The lower end of the threshold is the ability to program your own VCR, assuming you can find one.

I believe that you can tell ones intelligence by the threads they post. I could come to one conclusion only, you're an idiot.

Hah, I'm no prick and that wasn't witty!

No, they're just really stupid

Is that supposed to be a bad thing?

I would say a person who is smart is someone who knows and will admit to themselves that they don't have all the answers.

In my opinion, people who claim to know everything are stupid as fuck.

"The intelligent man is one who has successfully fulfilled many accomplishments, and is yet willing to learn more."

-Ed Parker

I think Ed Parker is "Ed Parker the founder of American Kenpo Karate".

Search Google if you like.

I heard fish is brain food...

But it could also be my mother telling me as a child to eat fish... :-\

I'm more the book-smart type. Its always the common sense hands-on kinda stuff that I mess up. I hear this line a lot from loved ones, "For someone so smart, I don't know how you can be so stupid."

I've met a lot of people who are amazingly book smart but they are so clueless when it somes to common sense. I have one friend who blows me away with her intelligence. She is right on track with everything going on in the world, her opinions are always informed. She can do complicated math problems in her head. But she is the dumbest blonde ( I can say that she is blonde) when it comes to common sense. There's been many times where I have just watched helplessly as she does something completely clueless. Of course I tease her mercilessly for it.
