ok.

so i was in a car accident a few years ago that blew out both my legs - it hurts to walk at all.

the state of virginia (oh how i love you! NOT) won't give me handicap parking permits because i'm "not handicapped". i can walk. it JUST HURTS A ******* LOT.

my job has pass-only parking. there's one temporary pass that's supposed to be shifted around for people with MY job title.

some other ***** always gets it first.

i've gotten THREE ******* TICKETS in SIX ******* WEEKS 'cause this ***** keeps stealing my pass and i can't get handi capped parking and i'm NOT parking five blocks away so that by the time i get to my office my ankle's inflamed and i'm eating another 1200 mg of ibuprofen.

AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

/end rant

Talk to your HR person. Tell her the company's policies are causing you daily pain that interferes with you doing your job. Go to your doctor and document it if you have to. I'm sure they can offer something, but it may involve you getting to work earlier.

So the state won't help you, have you tried talking to your employer. If they understand your condition, chances are they will provision for you to park closer. People hopped up on pain killers and are disgruntled are generally less productive than happy, non-drugged patients because you are well happier...

If they don't take this approach then they are fucking stupid morans and should get the hell out of business. The state on the other hand, has very little to gain from giving you a pass unless you get politicians involved.

That and what Flea said.

Several solutions present themselves.

1. Know that ankle that hurts so bad? Take a baseball bat to it. Don't do a halfway job, fix it good. Then you can get said permit. Not only that, but you can sue the shit out of your company, the other driver, and every insurance company/doctor involved. Some, if not all, of them will roll over and offer some $ to leave them alone.

2. Kill the C U Next Tuesday that keeps getting the pass. You'll have to sneak up on her since you obviously won't be running her down unless you use the car.

3. Get a better doctor. In most states (and I can't see how VA could differ here) it's the doctor's decision whether you and disabled enough for a handicap parking permit. Your doctor CAN make the difference.

Oh, and just so ya know:

You got three tickets because you parked where you shouldn't. Circumstances may be rough with your walking, but you KNEW the penalty when you parked there. Don't cry about the tickets.
