I said that I hoped to have the book done by the end of the year. Famous last words. No, it's not done, though I am getting closer. I have more than thirteen hundred pages in final draft form and another hundred or so in roughs or fragments, but there are still some chapters yet to write. I'm telling myself that I'm on the home stretch. As soon as FEAST as done, I will announce it here.

This is now the second time the book has been delayed. Amazon is now saying it will be out sometime in July.

Damnit I can not wait!!!

I have long given up on Amazon's release date for FFC. Seriously. I seem to remember checking Amazon for the release date in OCTOBER 2003 and seeing with glee that it would be released in April 2004. I was all set to have that book in-hand while I breast-fed in the middle of the night. But nooooo.

Mr. Martin says when it's done, the first thing he'll do is post it on his website. When he does that, THEN I'll go to Amazon.

To look on the bright side though, Harry Potter 6 is due out this July!

IIRC, Amazon and Barnes & Noble both had bogus release dates of May last year.

George finally came out and stated he didn't know WHERE they got the dates from, but it wasn't him and he didn't see how they were going to live up to them without a time machine. About a week later, the release dates vanished from the websites.

It'll be funny if that happnes again.

Mr. Martin needs to have someone stand behind him with a electric cattle prod. This person will then proceed to shock him anytime he is not writing or working on A Feast of Crows.

He is slow, agonizingly slow.
