Fellas, go here;

http://board.rpgamer.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?s=41eb4e1c71b7ffff;act=ST;f=4;t=9996;st=0

and give me your opinion. Was I wrong in how I posted?

The second page of that thread, get's particularly juicy, because the Staff there starts picking on me.

I'm the poster named Maudren, and I have the same avatar I have here.

Meh. They seem to be defending the sacred cow a bit overmuch but nothing that required you to post here saying how much you're being picked on. I was hoping for a decent flamewar or something.

Mistake 1: You were trying to have a two-sided discussion with the "OMFG ff7 r0x0rZ and all who disagree suXX0rZ" crowd.

Mistake 2: If you've ever been in a Comic book store, and there's that dude who sits there harassing the customers about the flawed timeline of some obscure webcomic, or the guy behind the counter who tells you what to think. Yeah, these are those guys.

Mistake 3: The situation was akin to you going to a Southern Baptist convention and declaring you're an atheist.

well thats my Opinion anyways....

The point of THIS thread is, Good God how I love the Asylum, and don't have to put up with overly sensitive people.

The fact that you posted this seeking acceptance/support/justification indicates that perhaps you're the one being sensitive.

Perhaps so, but there are different levels of sensitive, which is true of all emotions.

Me? I'm not sensitive in a way that, if someone refutes my opinion, or calls me a name, I'm gonna cry and threaten to ban people.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again;

Offended people offend me.

Seems like the mods were just politely asking you to chill out. You WERE kinda coming off as a know-it-all dick, no offense. It seems to me that you're the one making a big deal of everything. That one mod Dracos asked you politely to calm down and debate in a civilised manner. Now, I haven't posted on RPGamer in about a billion years, but if their community is still like it was back in the day, they're all pretty easy-going and laid back. My suggestion to you (which you can take or leave at your discretion) is to consider the possibility that, if you're the only one saying it's them and they're all saying it's you causing the problems, maybe it really IS you causing the problems.

At any rate, they've asked you to chill out rather politely, I'd suggest that you modify your posting habits to comply with the admins' request. Regardless whether you're right or wrong, it's their board.

hehe, I'm a prodigy of the asylum, what can I say?

Did you read the whole thing? I only responded in a way that I felt they responded to me first. I guess I'm not used to sugar coating what I say. I get right to the point and say exactly what I feel.

Meh, oh well. It was fun. I'm still gonna post there, maybe ruffle some more feathers in a subtle way.

Well, of course their all gonna say it's me, their all mods, so yeah, I'd expect them to side together. Note how, the fellow I was debating with, Slayer of God, didn't seem to have any problems with my posting. We were just going back and forth, minding out own business till the mods jumped it on a witch hunt.

But yeah, making a thread about it here, is kinda making a big deal out of it. I just got annoyed that, they are supposed to be so easy going, and yet, they got mostly worked up because of a stupid comment like, "your mom's huffy".

Well, the mods on RPGamer have always been very protective of their boards, to keep out trolls and flamers and other assorted dregs. They may have over-reacted, I can't say since I haven't seen the rest of your posts. Best thing to do is just leave it and continue posting like normal. If it continues to be a problem, you'll need to either change how you post or stop posting there. But if it's just an isolated instance then I wouldn't worry about it too much. Being an admin is a pain in the ***, and sometimes they DO over-react, but better to go too far than to not moderate a forum at all.

Either way, I've always enjoyed your posts here, but the Asylum is a bit different from most message boards. Just stay aware of that, and if they are the problem and it's NOT you then you probably won't want to post over there anyway.

Hey thanks man, ditto for your posts.

Do they have kiwi flavored beer in New Zealand?Smiley: chug

Yup. It's quite good, not sweet or tart at all, just a bit of a kiwifruit aftertaste. We've also got the most delicious feijoa vodka on earth (probably because it's the ONLY feijoa vodka on earth). I love NZ alcohol. Smiley: boozing

So were they, for the most part. Seems you should be able to say "This game knock-off is disappointing" without getting your shit jumped on by a bunch of fanbois. Hell, he wasn't even saying "OMG FF SUXX" but saying "I like the franchise and wish they'd take it in these directions instead of what they're currently doing".

However, I fully agree with your assesment that its their sandbox so its their rules.

I don't think I could post on a forum where I could not call someone a fucker for disagreeing with me. I mean i've seen a few threads locked by the admins mainly because of trolling and the infamous Dracoid/Abbay post in the OOT but not for expressing an 'opinion'

Thank Bob Alla and friends give us all such a high level of freedom.

I am a huge FFVII Fan and I have to agree with Belkain.

I guess your opinion (on that site) just doesnt get ignored by those that dont agree; but picked to pieces and disected beyond its very simple meaning.

Guess they have trouble just letting go...
