DC radio station goes Latin?Follow
For those that live in the DC-Baltimore area......Anyone of you listen to 99.1 HFS? Apparently they are now a latin only station. What the fu[b][/b]ck? This was one of the few decent rock stations in the area. Guess I need to find something else to listen to at work damnit.
You try DC 101 or 98 Rock? I'm pissed because no more HFStivals.
Like "Catholic Mass" Latin? 'Cause that'd be kinda cool

Yeah I like 98 rock in the afternoons. But I miss the Junkies in the morning commute. And yeah....the HFStival will be missed as well.

what in gods dammin hell? WHFS is a latino station now????????? I grew up (well im only 22) in the annapolis area and HFS was the only decent station to listen to. i moved to japan for moneymakin/schoolin. I cant ******* believe that!!!! It literally blows my mind b/c that was teh station with loveline and EVERYONE listened to that **** and talked about it at school the next day. wow. i need some fresh air im goin outside...

man i never heard about the kiddie **** thing left the area in 2001...i lived right down the street from onw of th dj's tho...in odenton in piney orchard cant remember which tho. anyway..the guy with the mariachi comment was clever but hfs used to be the **** when i was in like 8th grade and hadn't been introduced to your coolguy music snobbery culture.
I think HFS is owned by Infinity not ClearChannel.

B96 Chicago used to the sh[i][/i]it when I was in 8th grade but I've since gotten over the fact that I'm not in 8th grade any longer and they're now a crappy hip-hop station.

...I didn't notice that it was a latin station now. SWEET, I love that ****! Another station to set in my car. It's the only music besides classical that i can tolerate on the radio now.
..remember B104? Brian and O'Brian? in the morning?

Truly a bummer - grew up listening to Serf and Weasel in the 70s and 80s. Best eclectic alternative rock music anywhere when alternative rock music was still alternative.
Having moved back to Maryland this year I got to listen to WHFS a couple of times, but didn't listen to it on a regular basis. Of course, now that I'm an old fuddy-duddy of 41, I primarily listen to classical music (keeps down the road rage) and NPR.
Anyhoo, sorry to see WHFS's format change.

So true. I remember looking one year at the bands playing and saying "Squirrel Nut Zipper? What in the hell?". Oh well, all good things...

It was all the stupid wannabe punk **** like Blink182 and Sum41, and Hoobastank and...well good, I've forgotten most of the the names of the ****** bands...and straight up hip-hop that killed it.
They started playing Hip Hop on it. WTF
The last few line ups that I saw, I had NO desire to go see.

I spent many a night listening to WHFS while playing NWNo and chatting in The Great Hall Tavern with friends.
I do miss the days of College Radio stations. Now the only time I tune in to them is when NPR is on.
I still miss the days when WASH played classical.
Now it's just WYPR for me.
