Cord BloodFollow

#1 Jan 10 2005 at 7:09 PM Rating: Good
Hello Asylum,

Me and my wife are going to have a baby soon and we keep getting brochures for donating cord blood. Being skeptical of health care companies as it is, I was wondering if any of you have any information on this subject. I have done abit of research on this on I basically keep coming up with the same "Do it, it's good!". Any information would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

If your baby is asian then i urge you to keep quiet, it is a well known fact that Allakhazam funds this site entirely by trading asian babies on the black market.

(And who rated the OP down? I'm not offended or anything, just curious.)

You can get blood by the cord now? Damn, I just thought that was firewood.

I know I did.

As mentioned earlier I have a tendency to distrust anyone that has less than 250 posts and all of a sudden comes to the Asylum looking for help on obscure issues.

Just as many parents eat a mother's placenta after the birth of a child, so can cord blood come as a welcome addition to any culinary delicacy. Pour it over roast chicken, add it to a soup or simply use it for chip or vegatable dip. It would be a shame to waste cord blood by donating it to someone else's enjoyment.

It doesn't hurt anything, and having it on hand can be very benificial if your child were to unfortunatly develope one of several rare forms of leukimia. No reason not to do it.

About 85% of the people that come here to post that have less than 500 posts are socks.

If you are Totems sock I got nothing against you, if you are one of the old timers meh I couldnt care they all have them. However socks are rampant and I chosen a rate em all down method of approach and let Bob sort em out.

I dont normally rate down especially on the Asylum its just a little petty if you ask me, but now anyone with 500 posts and I dont notice as active on any of the other forums or on this forum I strictly rate down well them and Qaoz but hes another beast a much less interesting beast who doesnt have a funny or worthwhile post to his name.

Well I'm not Totem or anyone elses sock. I do post on OOT and am not brand new (in the sense that this isn't my first week here. But I have been here more then a year)

Doesn't a sock exist solely to benefit the owner and 'tries' to make everyone think that he/she is cool? I don't fit that as I am not trying to make anyone look cool nor do I belong to anyone. I'm just enjoying the fourm. Simple as that.

The fact you'd rate people down just because of a low post count is petty. Seriously. Rate because they have good/bad things to say. Rate because you feel they contributed or distracted from the enjoyment of the forums. Not because of some ego power trip.

For those who replied to my original question, thank you. the main reason why I asked this question because it made me think of organ donation. Sure, in theory it is a great idea, but then you hear about doctors not performing surgeries 100% because it can put the donor's organs at risk. There are countless stories about people who might have lived if they weren't organ donors. I undertsand the risk of donotaing organs and a placenta (which gets discharged naturally) are drastically different, I was just wondering if anyone happenned to know about any downsides to this. Thanks again!

P.S. I am not a sock. I usually don't post often because:

A. I couldnt give a **** about the topic.

or

B. I can see a flame war coming and would rather stay out of it.
