Canada wins at the national stage once again! You americans should be happy we kicked the shit outta the Russians.

We hold every national title, Olympics, World cup, world championships and the missing peice was added tonight. The world junior national championship. A close friends cousin was/should be the MVP of the tournament. (Dion Phaneuf)

6-1 final score. Wow, that was fun to watch.

It won't be after another hold-out season in the NHL.

As opposed to Baseball? Where the pitcher takes 5 minutes to scrath his balls, pull his underwar out of his buttcrack, chew 2 pounds of tobacco, spits out an ounce of it, looks for a potential date in the crowd... Then takes 5 more minutes to look at first base to decide what to do about his next pitch, "throw at first, or my fast ball?" all the while looking more beyond first plate for his potential date. Finally decides to throw the ball... STRIKE one. Oh, oh, the runner on first base is looking at the manager doing ten thousand different signs. Pitcher looks at his manager waiting for instructions. Thinks 5 minutes before he decides to look in his glove to make sense of the new code of the day... ENOUGH!!!! Baseball now THAT's a sport!!!!

Nah, I still say Sydney Crosby. In my opinion, Sydney is the most electrifying junior to grace the ice since Gretzky. I can see it coming.. Lemieux, Lindros, Daigle, Lecavalier... Lemieux and Lindros had an impressive presence on the ice, well rounded players but electrifying? Nope. Lemieux went on to do great things in the NHL, Lindros? Cry me a river mommy's boy. Play you fucking tard/ Daigle? althought impressive to see in the juniors was a total waste of time and talent in the NHL. I still can't believe he was chosen first and before Martin Gendron who lead the LHJMQ in goal scoring that year and never went on to be a regular in the NHL. Now Lecavalier was up there, beat some of Lemieux's records in the LHJMQ but still not at par with the GREAT one when it comes to style. Sydney Crosby have talent, style, speed and finesse that rivals Gretzky on the junior ice.

Team Canada had the best Junior team EVER. outscoring the tournament 41-7 (not too sure, gonna have to pull up the charts again). Through the championship, they never fell behind on an opponent. It's sad to see USA in 4th though, I would have loved to see the great Canada VS USA "war". USA have been a thorn in our "skates" in the past 4-5 years. It's nice to see the competition is shifting from Russia to our Southern neighbour.

To all American players out there, feel proud. You have shown a very competitive side to hockey that was once known only by a handful of countries

I understand why you wouldn't consider hockey or lacrosse as sports, Git. I mean, they do involve a terrible amount of strategy and thinking, and we wouldn't want you to hurt your pretty little head doing something like that, would we?

But yeah, the World Cup will never go to Canada. Brazil would bomb them first.

As opposed to Baseball?

You may not enjoy all of the mind games that are an integral part of baseball, but I assure you, you ignorant winter wasteland dweller, baseball will forever epitomize more of the human struggle and aspiration than hockey could ever dream.

At its core, a modern day representation of the one on one duel that has existed since man was first able to pick up a fist and throw it. The lone warrior atop his high perch rearing back to unleash what could be the fury of the gods in a 94 mile an hour slider which will dart across the strike zone so quickly as to make you want to climb in to your helmet cubby and cry the inning out, a knee-buckling curve that will make you look like a complete fool as you pick it up half a second too late to wave a pathetic swing or a 65 mile an hour change up when all you have in your mind is gas, kicking yourself as you watch the ball into the glove of the catcher what seems like an hour after your swing.

String this epic duel together and you have the war. Brilliant tacticians laying out the strategy that will advance one army around the field, or battle plans designed to counter every possible move and keep the enemy horde at bay. Where hockey skirmishes last mere moments, a baseball season is the hundred years war. Where hockey has its arenas with surfaces that are constantly changed and re-made, baseball has its catherdrals where immortals once walked among us and trod upon the same ground that todays aspiring legends stride.

For 8 months every year, with very few exceptions, the boys of summer have thrilled and mystified. They have entertained generations of people around the world. They have fueled dreams for the likes of which hockey has no equivalent.

Hockey as the national sport and the pride and joy of a country that is doomed to perennially play understudy to the greatest experiment in society that this world has ever seen is oddly fitting.

Moe,

While your description of baseball was eloquent and endearing, I would still rather watch grass grow. At least, baseball on TV. Going to the park, having a beer and some peanuts, enjoying the ambiance of the crowd, it can be fun. But watching a game on TV is about as exciting as watching old people fuck.

Hockey, on the other hand, is quite a bit more exciting. But either pales in comparison to football.
