Yup, we need to preserve the sanctity of life by making our teens resort to extremes if they *gasp* make a mistake!

The court should take into account the fact that anyone stupid enough to use repeated beatings with a mini baseball bat to induce an abortion should not be having children in the first place.

So THAT's how you do it. I've been taking my women to Planned Parenthood, it gets expensive.

Seriously though that is sad.

Jeepers. Haven't these kids ever heard of jacking off or blow jobs? The fact they thought smacking her in the stomach with a mini-bat was a good solution speaks volumes about those two.

And be the way, I resent the implication I am a Neo-Con. I prefer to be called an OG-Con. I am, after all, over 40 and have been a conservative for over three decades.

You ain't got no kind of feeling inside
I got something that will sure 'nuff set your stuff on fire
You refuse to put anything before your pride
I got something that will knock all your pride aside

Tell me something good (tell me, tell me, tell me)
Tell me that you love me
Tell me something good (tell me, tell me, tell me)
Tell me that you like it, yeah

Got no time is what you're known to say
I'll make you wish there were 48 hours to each day
Problem is you ain't been loved like you should
What I got to give will sure 'nuff do you good

Mmmmm, good tune, thanks, Yan-yan.

Prosecutor Smith is relying on law created by the Michigan Legislature in 1999. According to that law, only the person making the intentional conduct against the pregnant individual is criminally liable. The pregnant individual herself, however complicit in the termination, is not.

Does that not make sense to anyone else.

I mean I get it but I think the law is crap.

The charge, Intentional conduct against a pregnant individual resulting in miscarriage or stillbirth
The thing that bothers me about this story is that I can't find anything from a credible source that says you can induce a miscarriage by striking a pregnant woman in the stomach.

I have a hunch if it were that easy to get rid of an unwanted pregnancy, there would be a whole lot fewer of them.

Seems goofy how the judge is fucking around with the guy but I suppose its to keep up with thought that you should apply morals in warped fashions in the way to give the worse punishment possibly.

Well, I've heard of the 'redneck abortion' before, but never put much belief into it. Here's what I found when I looked:

http://www.pregnancyloss.info/myths.htm
Trauma to the womb CAN apparently cause the mother to abort, but it takes more than just a love tap or two.

Also, it seems to have taken the prosecutors a while to charge the guy. They must have been doing homework (or be under pressure from someone).

Show me one time that Totem has made sense. Seriously. Only asking for one instance.

Ah, the Republican party... they'll protect you zealously until you're born, and then send you off to die in Somefarawayplaceastan because their leader may or may not have a few vials of anthrax.

Sometimes I think that the only reason that today's Republicans are so fervently anti-abortion is so that they can have enough poor kids to staff their military projects in the future.

But that's just silly.

...isn't it?

BAHAHAHA! BAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Teeheeheeeeeeeee!! As a conservative, I proudly take full credit for that. Is there someplace I can claim my prize? It's truly to bad he didn't beat her to death and then cut his own throat though, I might have felt like I'd truly accomplished something then.

Not to bust your chops there, TS, but the page you linked is the common myths about the causes of miscarriage, which include a blow to the belly.

Yeah, I know it's the myths page. Like I said, apparently (because they managed to accomplish it over the course of a couple of weeks) trauma to the womb CAN cause the mother to abort, but a punch in the stomach (redneck abortion) isn't a viable and dependable method.

I could do with some 'clarity in writing' classes, though. Point taken.
