yea, so i got GROUNDED for CHRISTMAS BREAK! (my tragic story's posted below) GDI! So i was just wonderin what to do if you cant play everquest and socom2 (besides sitting down and dying).
aite, so i was sittin in my room playin socom 2. then my @#%^-of-a-mom comes in and says "I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU TO DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!!" and i said "i finished it mom. i only had 8 multiple choice questions, i told you id be done with it in a minute". then she said "DID YOU PRACTICE THE PIANO?!?!?" n i said "yes, for an hour" (which is twice as much as i have to each day). then she said "DID YOU STUDY??!" and i said "Yes, and i read my book for school extra.". then she started yelling "WELL NO MORE VIDEO GAMES OR COMPUTER FOR THE REST OF THE NIGHT!!!" (and it was 8 of clock.) so what was i supposed to do for another 3 hours?!?!? i did nothing wrong... so i said "WHY?" and she said "YOU PLAYED WAY TO MUCH VIDEOGAMES! YOUR ABNORMAL AND INSANE!" and i only played maybe 3 hours?? so i ssaid "o yea, 3 hours is 'abnormal' and 'insane'. because playing 3 hours of a game on a monday night before christmas break (when theres no hw) is 'insane' ". so my dad took away my ps2 memory cards. so i cannot play ANY online games... and now im grounded for christmas break... and i swear ill get revenge...

My mom took my keyboard and my comp from me once, and said I couldn't practice music once. She kept it in front of her door in the box, so I could remember it, and be in pain, and so she could make sure it was still there. Little did she know, I had another ****** keyboard, so I switched them, and kept it in my closet, along with the back up computer I built. Am I the only one that thinks this kid's mother was being unfair to him?
Being a parent doesn't give you the right to be a dictator. Not only is that unfair to your child (who is by the way an autonomous, sentient human being capable of making at least a few decisions for him/herself), but it's alsp been proven that authoritarian parenting styles lead to less well socially adjusted kids later in life than an authoritative (moderate) style. Now, I'm by no means suggesting that this kid should be allowed to shirk his homework in favor of playing video games all evening, but it sounds like he did everything that was required of him by his parents. What he does on his own personal time should be none of their concern, as long as he's not breaking any laws or getting himself into trouble.
And, by the way, though his account may be exaggerated, the parents' labeling of this kid as "abnormal and insane" (if that is indeed verbatim) speaks of a major problem on the part of his parents. "Insane" is being depressed, or excessively antisocial, or hearing voices in your head. Playing video games for hours on end, however, is something that I'm sure many of us are guilty of at least occasionally. It's nothing to really be worried about.
So, while this doesn't excuse the kid's immature ranting on these boards, it does sound like his parents were being at least a little unjust. Cut the guy some slack.
