AFC Championship Predicitions.Follow

Just about the whole playoff picture for the AFC got wrapped up today. Any Predictions about the AFC Championship? Who will be there and how will win it. I cant see anyone but the Eagles making it in the NFC.

I think that Pittsburg will beat the Pats again on their way to a fifth franchise SB ring.

Keep dreamin'. New England is one of the best playoff teams to ever play. The matchup will contain the Steelers, but it won't be much of a game.

AFC- New England

NFC- Philly over the Rams.

The rams are going to bairly make the playoffs, bairly make it into the championship, and get crushed by the eagles.

New England will win it all. I would love to the steelers take it all though.

Patriots over Steelers - Coach Weisz(sp) of the Pats is saving the good plays for the playoffs, so if they look vanilla the remaining games of the season, that's why. The Steelers however have been opening up the playbook all year in order to get to where they are. You can use Jerome Bettis throwing a TD this past win as a reference. The Pats have also kept Deion Branch quiet as far as trick plays, but look for a few wrinkles with that speedster.

Philly over Falcons - I'm a big Vick fan, just because he reminds me of Steve Young in his prime and he's fun to watch, also Atlanta's defense has vastly improved this year. But Philly has been on point all season. McNabb hasn't had to over exert himself as much as past seasons, so look for him to explode in the playoffs. TO is having fun again, and there isn't a corner on Atlanta's roster than can match up with TO, so there will be double teams. And that means others will be open.

Coach Weisz has bigger issues on his mind now. Like his impending job at Notre Dame. I wouldn't be surprised if that causes a Pats letdown in the closing weeks of the season.

I dont know the performance New England put on today was kinda pathetic. Barely beat the Bengals? and Carson Palmer was hurt alot of the game? New England is good there is no doubt but I think that the Steeler D will pull them through. Defense wins championships.

No matter who makes it, I'm positive the AFC championship game will be a better game than the Super Bowl.

I'm calling Steelers over the Chargers.

I'm going to be pathetically optimistic and say...the JETS may actually make the playoffs!
That's all I really care about.

I like the Pats. Thier schedule is easy the rest of the way, not to mention yesterday. They can rest their horses and get healthy.

I'm going Steelers over Pats.

The Steelers will have to pull everything to win it though, as I agree that New England is damn good when it comes to the playoffs.

Been a Steelers fan my whole life... Would be nice if I could see them win a Superbowl.

I like this. There is probablly no way in hell it will happen but it would be fun to see the chargers win the superbowl after the year they had last year. I will however be betting on steelers over pats, Cower deserves it.

/Agree. Although Atlanta is playing with a chip on their shoulder and could give the Eagles a game.

Pats fan here.

What makes this team great is they take it one week at a time. Each person in the ORGANIZATION is required to totaly focus on the task at hand. So no, Charlie Weis will not fail to game-plan due to his future job requirments.

Kudos to Pittsburgh, they are a very good team and have showed no signs of let down. And with the Giants playing so bad and the Patriots having two division games left (in which you can throw out the records, upsets are frequent) it looks to me like the road to the Super Bowl goes through Pittsburgh.

But the Pats are a lock. There is NO WAY the Patriots coaching staff is going to let a rookie quarterback beat them in an AFC Championship game. Take a look at what the Patriots have done to Peyton Manning the past few games, and then explain to me how Ben Roethlisberger is going to beat them? Sorry, only a plethora of penalties and turnovers could possibly lead to a Steelers victory.

And back to the coaching staff, you have the best head coach in football, with a staff so supreme, it includes the next head coach of Notre Dame. I'm sorry but you have no chance!

It's not the coaches, it's the players? Whelp, the Patriots took a Super Bowl Champion roster and added Corey Dillon, who didn't play when Pittsburgh edged the Patriots earlier in the year. Good luck guys!

I would agree with you IF the Steelers O was based on passing like the Colts. NE is going to have to stop the run. They're 9th against the run 11th total defense. Adding Dillion while he is a good back isnt going to help. I hope NE tries to run on Pittsburgh. Talk about playing into their strength. The Steelers just faced the leading rusher in the NFL this weekend and kept him to 72 yds all day. NE is a great team. They have done well this year and I give them respect for that but I just think this is a magical year for the Steelers.

I agree. Everything is going well for them, and I don't think it is dumb luck, I think Pittsburgh is very good. It's nice to see Jerome Betis playing well.

After they beat the Pats, everyone was expecting them to let down vs. the Eagles. Didn't happen. Then everyone was expecting Ben Roethlisberger to play like a rookie and cost them a game or two. Didn't happen.

And that's why I don't think they will lose home field advantage to the Patriots. Even if the Steelers lose one of the remaining three, I think it's likely the Pats will also.

But come that AFC Championship game, the Patriots players will be at their best, and the Patriots coaches will have a game plan to befundle the Pittsburgh O. The Pats are full of clutch players. Never the league leaders in any statistics, the team they have this year is more talented than either of the last two Super Bowl Champions. And that's why a Patriots victory is a lock.

Who is the goofball that said not having Corey Dillion in the game the Steelers won didn't matter? Come on guy! Not having one of the best backs in the game today on the field "doesn't matter?" /boggle

Like I said before it will be a great game if the two get to lock horns again. I fail to see how either team could be considered a lock to win.

Hah. I'd love that outcome as well. Um... Pretty darn unlikely though. While the Chargers are playing remarkably well, and haven't yet hit their "Oh hell. Nothings working anymore" phase, I'm a die hard fan, and I *know* that at some point they'll ***** up.

I do have to say that for the first time really in a couple decades, they have a team mentality that's solid. They're not relying on big plays or luck to win games, but are actually playing good football. What SD usually does is grab a couple "star" players, focus everything on them, get a nice win streak at the beginning of the season, but then once everyone watches the films and learns who the threats are manage to fail miserably for the second half. This is the first year in a long time where that hasn't been the case. There are actually solid players in all positions, with both rookies and veterans filling those slots. They've done a good job at getting veterans in mentoring positions for rookies instead of playing them off against eachother ("star" rookie takes veterans slot, veteran signs as free agent and goes to the superbowl with another team... Seen that one like 50 times). That change in approach has been huge this year, and if they continue it will make them a competitor in seasons to come.

I still don't think they're quite there yet. In a year or two, look for them to be a viable contender. They'd have to get really lucky to get past round 2 of the playoffs this year.
