I'm on the verge of
A) Being canned for being arrogant and manipulative
B) Being promoted for the same, plus always right
I've been training a replacement for the past two months in between travelling and handling special projects. He's very bright and very young (21).
It's gone to his head. He's been popping off at the mouth about certain people being afraid he's going to take their job because of the things I've taught him. These are people he needs to work WITH not AGAINST.
I've told him a dozen times that these people are worried about their own performance not because he'll 'take' their job but for the sake of doing a good job. Since he has the attitude of a 21 year-old person, it's been like water off a duck's back. Especially since the spot I'm trying to work him into is better than the one he thinks he could 'take.'
Tonight was the annual company party. He bought me a few drinks, I bought him a few, and eventually his ride deserted him. So I took him to the Platinum Plus (strip) Club. I know a guy who works the door, but he wasn't there tonight so we had to pay a cover. After an hour or so, we left and went to another place called Chasity's (if you want to see a G-string, bring it with you). I have a gold card so it's free admission. Another two hours and we migrated to The Southern Gentleman (close to home and I know a bartender so I have unlimited admission).
During all of this club-skipping, I plied my young companion with drinks and stuck to beers for myself. I don't have an unlimited capacity and I was driving so I did have to retain some semblance of sobriety.
Now we get to the part where I'm a bad person.
It has nothing to do with having friends who are pimps and whores. That's fine; everyone has to pay bills.
I had an agenda. I let the kid get tanked as much as he wanted. And then he went too far. It was just a matter of time and alcohol.
He got 8 (count them, 8) lapdances with only $27 in his pocket and no means to get additional funds. He has a maxed out credit card which was, of course, denied. I told one of the bouncers where he was, how long he'd been there, and how much he had in the way of funds. Then I sat back and watched the fun for a while.
I pulled one of the bouncers who had him cornered over to the side, told him I'd make it good, only I wanted them to go through every possible attempt to get the $ short of taking it out of his hide. He made good on his end, too.
Well, after about 45 minutes of financial contortions, just short of calling his family to bail his *** out, he was out of excuses and I was just kind of looking the other way and tossing in comments here and there. The bouncers confiscated his pants and shoes. I gave him the key to my truck and sent him out in his boxers while I had to 'make sure they'll let ME back in next time.'
I made the bill good and tossed his stuff in the back of my truck. Then we (I talked, he listened) had a good talk about over-inflated ego while I drove him home.
For some reason, he sobered up a great deal with no pants.
I did let him have his stuff, but only after I made my point about not letting your dick (or ego) get you in over your head.
It cost me about $200 for the night but even if he turns out to be a complete failure, I feel it was worth it. I can hold this shit over his head for years.
I know I'm a bad person but for the next week or so I'll be walking around with a
