so I had a physical day after thankgiving, and bloodtest on sat. morning. I got a call from the doc with results yesterday. Apparently my good cholesterol is low, my bad cholesterol on mark, and my tryglycerides are at 350, about double the norm.

I'm too young for this crap. This should not be for a 21 year old(22 in 3weeks,shameless plug). I was told I'm now at risk for diabetes, something no one in my family has had yet,and I sure as hell don't want to be the first, along with CAD, and like one or two other diseases including heart attack/stroke. So, I gotta go on a pretty strict diet as to what I do/don't eat.

sorry for the rant, but this just pissed me off when I found out.

Welcome to America buddy. We are all fat, lazy, diabetic, slobs. Where I work there is a McDonalds within a 2 mile radius in all directions. There isn't much you can do when the temptation is everywhere. It's a lot easier to grab something fast at Wendys then it is to make healthy food at home and bring it in.

Exercising is teh devil. Its tough to keep a steady regiment and stick to it. Look at it this way though, at least they warn you when you are this young now. My Dad is pushing 60 and he found out he was diabetic about 3 years ago. Try countering diabeties with that metabolism and lifelong damage. Good luck to you.

If you ever left your mom's basement and put the twinkies and grape soda down, got some exercise other than going to the toilet, you would be healthier Smiley: banghead

Actually a lot of jobs now require you to have physicals. I work at a school district and I am required to have an annual physical. Its becoming a lot more common.

it's a good idea to have a physical every 1-2 years, I haven't had one in 4....

as to the whole exercise thing, I play football with my buddies for an hr or two twice a week, and I have been going to the YMCA down the block from me irregularly for about a month.

as to the whole livin in moms basement, I don't live at home(bout 4hrs away actually), pay my own rent, and all bills. Only thing my rents help me with is school, and I split that with them. Personally, I think I'm doing pretty well on the whole not very dependant thing. I just can't maintain a fulltime job and go to school fulltime,it's too much for me, so payin the 28k/year for my school is kinda tough as you can imagine. Thanks for the GFY though, always appreciated stok.

Wow. I have not had a physical scince Highschool some 18 years ago. Probably at deaths door and don;t know it;)
Have not been to a dentist in 2 years. Sad part is I pay alot for Health insurance (About 700 a month for wife and kids).

>>And the Fing thing is going up 22% for next year<<

Guess I should do that, but I have a real disdain for going to Doctors. I mean half the **** they tell you good this bad that. 2 Years doen the road they will change thier minds and be like Bacon greese prevents Heart attacks.

/off the subject

Why is it that Insurance Co.'s are making Record profits and Inflation is low. Yet for the last 3 years Medical insurance has gone up 10-20% every year.

My friend had a high triglyceride level too, his doctor had to put him on a low carb diet. But he is taking Accutane for his skin. Are you on Accutane/Roaccutane or something similar?

So you're not overweight, Isten?

I'm in the diabetes risk area too, my grandpa had it and I might just get it. I'm way too young for this ****.

Oh well, Oprah's still on.

Acutally, I was saying Accutane was the cause of his high triglyceride level. It's an acne medication.

Was just making sure you weren't taking it and your doctor wasn't aware of its side-effects for some reason.

oh, nah, I don't take any medication I don't have to. I won't even take advil or tylenol unless I really can't stand the pain.

as to being overweight? Not really, I have a bit of a gut(gotta love my beer), but that's bout it.

I'm 5-11 and weigh around 175-180, I fluctuate. I think I've got about 5-10 more lbs of fat on me than I'd like, but I wouldn't say I'm obese.

Welcome to the club.

Im 23 going on 24

I have silver hairs coming up on the top of my head(note: silver not white or grey) which have been coming up for years but now there starting to multiple.

I shave at night and have to shave again in the morning, otherwise I look like a mountain man. By the time I get home from work I have to shave again.

Im starting to become over weight yet again, which essentially means I have to start working out again.

Six months ago I got a physical done and I found out I have like two kidney stones. Small, but given enough time theyll mature.

I feel old when i wake up and sometimes my body even aches. If im supposed to be in my prime now then im gonna be in a whole lotta hurt when im old.

Welcome to geezer town Smiley: glasses Theres your oldman glasses, so grab a chair in the back and lets play some checkers until we doze off.
