Giambi admits to steroid use.

Any takers on a bet that Bonds didn't do 'roids? Hmmm, is it even remotely possible that Jason G. went to Gary Anderson at BALCO and said, "Hey, Gary! I know that Barry doesn't use and you'd never even dream of giving him some of your secret strength potions and muscle rebuilding cocktails. And I know that you and him are good friends, but do you think you could make me big like him, hit like him, and last as long as he has in baseball, seeing that you know how to make guys become like that?"

What do you think the chances are that Jason gave ole' Barry the finger in the grand jury room while testifying to save his own skin, knowing that admiting his usage of steroids leads inevitably to fingers pointing at Bonds as well?

Pickleprince, your thoughts?

I knew some kid who proudly admitted he took steroids, he was 17 I think, kinda a big kid, it was pretty damn sad. Last time I heard he is repeating the 12th grade.

And let's connect the dots, shall we, Moeb? Jason goes to Gary because he knows through the grapevine that he produces winners. Gary is good friends of Barry, Barry is a prodigious hitter, and Jason wants to become a monster masher too. He asks Gary, "Yo, yo, yo, Gary, hook me up with some of that good stuff you're feeding Bonds, ok?" Gary is suspiciously silent. No denial, just silent.

Don't tell me when it all shakes out that you will be astounded that Barry is a 'roid user. Puh-lease. I know that you may be a fan, you like to see Bonds go yard, and there is some home town inclination to overlook minor transgressions and suspicious behavior, but to completely ignore reality and unequivocally claim Bonds is clean is plain crazy...

The cool part about steroids is the side effects. It'll make your nuts shrink and your tits grow. and with Girls it'll make your tits shrink and you grow hair like a gorilla.

Giambi is gonna bankrupt the Yankees for a number of reasons.

One, his knee is falling apart as usually happens with 'roid abusers. Next, he's guaranteed BIG MONEY, BIG MONEY, BIG MONEY, NO WHAMMY, STOP! Playing less than half a season every year is not what i would call cost-effective. The Yankees are winners. Steroid users are losers...(Don't believe me? I gotta grade 5 T-shirt that says so...) Losers and Winners don't typically mix.

And last but not least, Giambi, Bonds and Sheffield are fooked. Do you think history is gonna remeber their stellar stats or their infamous drug abuse? Not sure? Ask Shoeless Joe...

Just because my thread is far superior to that other lesser thread, Bonds is a 'roid monster.

C'mon, fellas. Just look at his head size back when he played for Pittsburg compared to San Francisco. Whose adult head grows like a watermelon in the sunshine like that unless he's injecting MHGH (Massive Head Growth Hormone) through his upper palate or something? The guy is juiced, I'm tellin' ya.

I'm not ruling out that it was the side effects of San Francisco's famous clam chowder on Pier 39. I've been gettin' ripped off that stuff for a few months now!

But really if he is juiced then he should admit it, and accept that astericks next to his 73 home-run record.

Heh, Totem your thread might be better because you spelled Giambi right in the title, but come on I beat you to Bonds using steroids story also. I just posted that this morning.

I think everyone should post a thread about Barry Bonds using steroids. Pickle is just hiding because his boy is nothing but a fat headed, racist, BALCO junky that would sooner buy his steroids from Mexico than give it to that devil, Dr. Whitey.Smiley: tongue

My wife (born and raised in San Francisco and die hard Giants fan) and I were discussing this over the morning paper this morning. I've always felt he was on the 'roids - she and her mom, however, were always floating down the denial river. At this point, I think they are accepting that Bonds was probably on steroids.

Athletes of any status, amateur or professional, on 'roids is sad for baseball and sad for sports in general.

I wish 'roids was abolished and enforced with the harshest of penalties. As well, I would love all of these overpaid children in all sports be forced to have a reasonable salary cap of say, $100k a year to do what they do. The rest of the money earned could go to improve/build new stadiums or be channeled to proper city agencies for caring for the homeless and poor. But that won't ever happen either.

Oh, and although having never experienced the affliction, I am against hemarroids as well - sounds like a pain in the ***! Smiley: tongue

I am confused about one thing though. How on earth can Bonds claim that he took these substances but didn't know they were steroids? Don't you think you'd notice?

Also, don't professional athletes have to take drug tests periodically for exactly this reason? If he was innocently taking this stuff, how'd he manage to avoid popping positive on the tests? He'd have to take some sort of action to avoid using the stuff for a period before taking a drug test (even the most dim person would have to suspect something if his trainer is telling him not to take it for X weeks before the drug test, right?), or he'd have to be doing something directly to avoid a positive result on the test (methods vary based on the test, but no way do you do thin unless you know you are taking something you aren't supposed to be taking).

It's just that I've been hearing that "defense" from him, but I can't see how anyone could take stuff for the period of time they're talking about without either knowing what they were, or failing a drug test, or more likely both.

Or that a man who so obviously cares for his body and works to maintain its' optimal ability would injest something which he did not know what it was or what it would do. It'd be like a high performance race car mechanic putting in parts he purchased from a pluck-n-chuck business that specializes in Pinto parts. Pro athletes take stuff that will hopefully give them peak efficiency and performance, not unknown substances that could effect their play.

It's a nice clintonesque fairy tale for the Giants faithful to swallow like a pleasant spoonful of flaxseed oil.

The steroid he was using was a designer drug. It didn't show up on tests.

This is not the first “doping scandal” to hit the world of elite sport. What is significant in this case is the discovery of a previously undetectable, designer, performance-enhancing drug, coupled with the prospect of many other designer performance enhancers worming their way through the elite sports community.

Did any of you watch 20/20 last week? If not here is some nice tidbits from that special. Keep in mind this is all coming straight from the horse's mouth, Victor Conte, the president of BALCO.

Quote:
Drugs from Conte's BALCO lab made their way to some of baseball's biggest stars. Former American League MVP Jason Giambi admitted to a federal grand jury that he took steroids and human growth hormone in 2003, according to transcripts of testimony obtained by the San Francisco Chronicle and published in the newspaper's Thursday editions.
OK everyone knows that Giambi used the stuff, but how about this...
Quote:
Giambi reportedly told the grand jury he used steroids obtained from Greg Anderson, the personal trainer for San Francisco Giants star Barry Bonds. Greg Anderson, who has pleaded not guilty in the BALCO case to federal charges for supplying steroids, has denied giving illegal drugs to Bonds.
Hmmm somebody is lying here. Bond's PT says he never gave Bonds anything, but...
Quote:
According to today's San Francisco Chronicle, which also obtained transcripts of testimony by Bonds to the federal grand jury, the baseball player admitted to using "the cream" and "the clear" in the 2003 season that were supplied by Anderson. Bonds reportedly said Anderson told him he was using the nutritional supplement flaxseed oil and a rubbing balm for arthritis.
Barry admits to taking the stuff last year. Uh oh, Mr. Anderson is in trouble. If everyone keeps their story straight Anderson will be the only one to goto jail.
Quote:
He adds, "My guess is more than 80 percent are taking some sort of a stimulant before each and every game."
This just confirms what Ken Caminetti said years back (which by the way he just recently died due to complications caused by his performance enhancer drug use over the years).

Any of you wanting to see this in its entirety, check out http://abcnews.go.com/2020/story?id=297995&page=1

Also this has led Bud Selig to start a commision on drug use. This was just announced yesterday at http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/news/mlb_news.jsp?ymd=20041205&content_id=918721&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp

I don't think Barry is gonna get more than a slap on the wrist. This is typical of all hi profile sports talent. I mean after all if Ray Lewis can get away with a double homicide, why can't Barry Bonds juice up?Smiley: tongue
