I was sent a clip from a tv show back in the 70's and I just about fell off my chair as I laughed my *** off.
Video contains noise, bright colors, and sexual content.

And they say we americans cant understand british humor

What show had HR Puffnstuff and Witchy-poo? I can't remember the name but man that show had "watch me while I am taking acid" written all over it.

I was also flipping through the channels a few weeks ago and came across Teletubbies... I had never actually watched it. It's like a show for "special ed" kids... Let's dumb them down as early as we can!

Oh no Rod, I was blowing a lot with Roger last night. But would you like to play with my maracas?

It seems like this must have been a somewhat interesting show to watch with your kids.

Yes! Everyone play with their balls! And if you don't have any, why not ask a friend if you can play with his balls?

Where the hell was this show when I was stuck watching Sesame Street?

The show is intended for babies like six months to maybe 18mths. Hence the bright primary colors, repetitive vocalizations, close-ups of other babies, etc. I could (and would) argue that these are things that parents should be doing in person and not setting the kid in front of a screen but the show is geared well for its intended audience.

Holy crap! I had one of those Huggabunch things as a kid, and it looked exactly like Chucky from Child's Play. It scared the crap outta me for years 'cause my aunt took me to see that movie when I was six.

We see a view of the door and hear Bungle moaning from behind it.

Bungle: "Geoffrey, I can't get it in"

Geoffrey: "You managed it last night"

Bungle: "I know, let's try it round the other way around. Ooooooh, I've got it in"

Now, I have to ask; Do you think the writers of the show were that clueless when they were writing this script for a kids show? Or did they absolutely know what they were doing and wanted to see if they could slip it by the producers?

Joph - you forgot Teletubbies' target audience - STUDENTS! Smiley: grin

As for Rainbow, I had to suffer that every lunchtime when my daughter was young - but what can you expect from a show that stars a pink fluffy hippo, a bloke in a bear suit and a strange indeterminate creature?

Hmmm... I think I just described three members of our current Cabinet....

Anyway, I thought Rod, Jane and Freddie were great!

For those of you outside the UK, look for some 'Hale and Pace' clips - British comedy duo who regularly took the **** out of Rainbow and other such shows with their 'Billy and Johnny' routine. Not great faves of mine, but they did have their moments.

I like that when the puppet in the bath talks about his "small twinger(?)" the other puppet looks down into the water to check it out...

It seems to me that the script writters knew exactly what they were doing. Maybe they were trying to make a show that would be entertaining to Adults so that they would watch it with their kids, since I'm sure most 3-5 year olds wouldn't pick up on the innuendos.

I'm guessing the writers were wanting to have some good old fashioned fun playing with words, and maybe a couple writers were trying to mess with some parents' heads since they don't really explicitly say they're doing something sexual but it could still annoy some parents so that they couldn't do anything.
