Vegas AnyoneFollow

So my lady friend is going to Vegas for the first time. She's a little shy (yeah right) about gambling and what not, so I was looking for some easy games she could play that won't leave her completely broke within the first ten minutes.

The easiet games I can think of would be slots, or roulette, maybe blackjack if she isn't too scared.

Craps. Best game in the house with the best odds, besides single deck black-jack. If you can find one of those that are at $5 or less tables, then you can grind out a pretty good sum of cash. Take it from me, I live in Nevada.

Slots and roulette don't have great odds in your favour from what I've heard.

Blackjack is supposed to be pretty favorable. And it's not too hard.

But yeah, Smash is the resident expert.

Nickel Slots....stay away from the table games where there is alot of pressure on her to make decisions. BLACK JACK might be a good idea, but my GF hated it because there was so much pressure. Unless you go to the old strip, $5 a hand is the lowest you can get. $10 a hand on weekends. Roulette would be fun, easy enough to figure out red/balck, odd/even etc.

Quarter slots can last awhile and there are so many different types she can be entertained by flashing lights for hours. I know I am Smiley: smile

Yeah, single deck black jack by far has the best odds (check out a guide to the basics of black jack online.. it's not hard). Craps is another possibility. Slots always seem to lose me a hell of a lot more than they win me, plus they seem a lot more addicting than the tables (just ONE MORE PULL!!!!). They're not called the one-armed-bandits for nothing. Another option is roulette, with red or black bets. Normally that's what I've used to introduce friends to gambling. People find a 50/50 chance pretty cozy when compared to some of the other odds available in games.

The only problem with blackjack, although I like it best along with craps, is that if you are on first base, you have to worry about the other people getting pissed at you for taking cards they could have used to beat the dealer. And also taking the high cards you want the dealer to get so they go bust. THere is a real balance that has to be learned and learned quickly for that game, but it comes pretty easy.

EDIT:
Oh btw, I work for a company that makes those slot machines you like to play. *wink*

How much can you win at the slots? Also don't they walk around and serve you drinks while on them?

Yeah they serve drinks, but not as often as when you play the table games. You can still win hundreds of dollars if you win, the odds suck, but its a slow painless death. I have never gotten up from a slot machine at 9am after 17 gin and tonics, losing a grand or two, and saying "Dear Jesus...wtf did I just do?"

Depends on the machine. I won a small "jackpot" of 760 tokens on a slot machine last time I hit the boats. Of course it was a nickle machine an 780 nickles is thirty-eight bucks. Had it been a dollar machine, I'd have had three-quarters of a grand but I never would have lasted that long on dollar machines.

I'm not much of a gambler though. I like to hit the track and spend a day making $2 and $5 bets and maybe spend $20 for six hours of fun, fresh air, sunshine and watching the ponies run 'round.

A grand or two? Dear God! Those are some serious quarters.

Three cheers for the ponies! I used to live right near Penn-National track. Nothing beats coming home, then going to watch the races with friends.

I like the dog races myself.

Also, another thing, try not to mistake a $5 machine for nickel machine. My wife made that mistak and then complained to the casino guy walking around how the machine stole here money. I knew better and just wanted to see her be embarrased by the situation. Too funny.

I'm assuming the machines are marked?

Yeah, they are, but she misread that one. Of course, she was a little plastered at that point.

So, when you're at a table, they serve you free drinks? I've never been to a full fledged casino before, so I'm kind of unsure.
If they're giving out free gin and tonics, then damn skippy i'll be in Vegas tomorrow.

Yes, positive confirmation that if you are playing anything in the casino and a waitress is nearby, she will bring you free drinks. Last I went it was only 2 at a time.

I'm there. Not just tonics right?
