Smash, I think you'll like WoW for it's faster gameplay - Count me in if you decide to lead a guild there!

Here's an example of one of my favorite moments in WoW last night. We got this quest from a Dwarf in an area called Steelgrill's Depot where we had to fetch some ammunition for a Dwarf in another area. You had to go to a remote camp in a valley to pick up the ammunition and then take it over to the receiving Dwarf. He's the leader of this little squadron of guys at a target range.

Once you give him the ammunition and you complete the quest, these guys all move from their camp and go to the target range. They start shooting at the targets and it was really hysterical. Words don't do justice to describe the antics and I'll let you discover it for yourselves, but for me, it was just one of many examples of why I enjoy WoW.

Oh and Smash, check your inbox - I'll be happy to mail your book to you, but I gots to know where!

No hard feelings at all for those who were perturbed by my opening post - again, anything goes in the The Asylum.

Thanks to all you lovely bastards for your support, cheers -

Glad some folks appreciated the post - if you decide to play one, the other, or neither, it's all good.

I still don't understand why someone would ***** about ANYTHING other than FFXI - The Gay Blade being off-topic in the Asylum. There is no such thing here, barring the previous exception.

For those thinking of WoW - I'm all for joining an Asylum members' WoW guild but we'll need to reach a consensus on a few things:

1. Would the guild be Alliance or Horde? As a longtime Dwarf/Gnome player, I just gots to go with Alliance. If there is enough interest for both factions, however, perhaps we could coordinate with the opposition for future battles. You could take out your frustrations on a fellow poster that you may be disgruntled with!

I didn't even want to try another MMORPG. I quit CoH awhile ago. I decided to download the beta client for WoW with pretty low expectations. I don't really like the Warcraft games to begin with but I ended up giving it a shot because it was free. I was more than impressed. All around fantastic game thus far. It really is fucking amazing. The game itself is beautiful. Sure, the graphics in EQ2 are great, but they don't look like fantasy graphics, by and large. WoW looks fantastic.

I love Taurens, so I'm pro-Horde. If you play on a roleplay server (which, I do suggest actually, the crowd seemed a bit less spamhappy), you can have characters of either faction. I'm not sure if that's only in beta though.

I will miss some of the EQ classes though. Nothing like playing an SK. However, gun toting hunter will have to do I guess :) .

2. I understand there is/will be an RP PvP server and RP PvE server. I'm not really into PvP myself (there will be faction battles down the line at higher levels (something like what DAoC does) so I prefer PvE.

I live in CST but wouldn't mind doing the EC RP server. I'm not a PVPer in general, but I also wouldn't mind trying it in this game.

About the only complaint I have in WoW is that I found a village of Goblins... and I REALLY want to play one (they're the Horde version of Gnomes... little technical guys). Anyone know if they will be playable in the future? Goblin Rogue would be too cool.

I'm in any guild Smash/Taco are in. Period. Most fun that I had in nearly 5 years of EQ.

WoW is great. Was in final stress test, and I'm in Open Beta. Need more time to play though. Guess I'll see all of you in game (if you decide to play WoW).

Take two. Should be fun. Smiley: eek

A word of advice though: don't play on the RP server; Blizz is actually enforcing RP in group chat as well as public channels. A bit over-the-edge in my opinion but I guess most of the groups in the game are pickup so you never know when you'll be getting a hardcore RPer all butt-hurt.

Much as that would amuse you, it's no fun to get your account banned. Smiley: sly

The open beta account creation page is once again open to players who already have a beta key. So if you obtained a beta key, but were unable to create an account before account creation was closed, now is your chance! The account creation page will only be open a short time, so go create your account now.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Due to the issues surrounding the download and WorldofWarcraft.com downtime, many testers were unable to create accounts with their FilePlanet keys over the past few days. Good news: Blizzard is re-opening the account-creation pages for people with those keys! Click the button below to create your World of Warcraft Open Beta account. Also, please note that account creation is only available for those with FilePlanet Final Stress Test or Open Beta keys, and you must act now to create your account! The account-creation pages will only be open for a limited period of time. Thank you for your patience, and welcome to World of Warcraft!

Heh, my wife really is into the Hunter class - Dwarven and Night Elf.

I'm sure we can all settle on a server and time zone...I think the chat spam by the 12 year olds is a bit less (but no less annoying, heh) on the RP server we played on today (EC Test 35...we were playing on EC Test 2 because we didn't know they had an RP server, doh!). I don't care if we "roleplay" or not, as long as we're having fun.

If Smash quits in a fit of rage and Taco takes over, you can expect 24/7 raids on Male NPC's with the "Ghey Blade" tag over your head.

By the way:

*hugs* Goal ... did I tell you Val and Twink Jr are playing soccer now? So I have my own little goalkeeper ...

BTW - no such thing as Dexterity in WoW - for rogues it's all about AGI! Heck of a change from the worthless stat in EQ, heh.

We miss you too, hope things work out so that you can check out WoW in the near future with Avey and maybe Dal and the rest. We'll be looking for you.

Well, I got EQ2 today, and I like it so far. Granted, it's just been one day, but it's grabbed my attention pretty good. The lag is bad, but not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. (I have a little 64 meg card, and it still runs, wow).

I think I'll keep playing both before I make up my mind.

Nice to see people talking about WoW in here.

I have been playing WoW since my FFXI disk exploded and destroyed my DvD rom drive on a install. I guess I will deleting my FFXI account and playing WoW because of this.

Pacific server here, test 10, tauren. I prefer the horde lands, not so crowded and shamans rock. Hope to see some of you around.

That's the server I've been on. Mostly as my Tauren Hunter, who is level 9 now. Name's Zeld.

I know I'm supposed to be impartial or something, but I agree 100% with Smoggy. I won't be playing EQ2 retail, I don't care how many people I know are playing it. It's WoW or nothing.

Tauren Shaman, Horde, Beta 11.... you know where the beef's at now, *******

well, i have been playing EQ2 now since launch, and all i can say is.......WOW.

true you can only have 4 characters per acct. no biggie for me, but really, even in EQ1, all you have is healer, caster, melee, support, or some combo of those three. 4 is enough.

the game is perfect for a casual gamer. between quests, and tradeskills, there is always plenty to do for the one hour play session. there are also raids for the hard core.

the game is stunning to look at. absolutly stunning.

the game is solid as a rock too. very few crashes, rarly going down unplanned.

no twinking.
no camping.
no farming.
no advantage to double boxing unless you just cant get enough of yourself.
and because of instancing, no severly over crowded zones.
no night mare corpse recoverys.
no penalty for exploring the world.
no deleveling.

just a positive experience from the time you log on till you log off.

quests. you will level much faster, get more plat, and find more items questing in EQ2 than hitting the grinding wheel. you get so involved with the quests, sometimes i dont even know what level i am. i dinged twice during one series of quests, and didnt even realize it.

nice job sony. it will be a big big hit.

We tried out the Taurens (got my hunter up to level 5, wife got her shaman up to level 5) and made it to the big city. We fought in that thorny canyon place. The quests are cool, but honestly, we have more fun playing Dwarves, Gnomes, Night Elves and Humans.

Still, I am determined to try out the other horde areas just to see the areas. But our primary characters are Alliance.

We are redoing all our Test 2 characters (with some minor changes) on EC Test 35 (RP). Since are characters will most likely be wiped, we'll be focusing on the Night Elves (currently at level 11) until release for Alliance exploration. My characters there are:

Wallop (Dwarf Paladin)
Roam (Night Elf Druid)
Wonky (Dwarf Hunter)
Fizzletwitch (Gnome Mage)
Rhyswin (Human Priest)
Nacmacfeegle (Gnome Rogue)
Bronto (Tauren Hunter)
Grisly (Orc Warrior)
Groggy (Troll Shaman)
