...(and forgive me for intruding on you guys, but as an FFXI board-member I feel it's my moral responsibility to do so and be as utterly stupid as possible while doing it), it occurred to me tonight... All these recent intrusions you guys are getting from the FFXI board members remind me of something. I don't even know where the thought came from, but out of nowhere I just got this random mental image of a bunch of little kids daring each other to run up and ring that witch Old Lady Hinkleburg's doorbell and run. That's exactly what these FFXI trolls reminds me of. They're running to the big scary Asylum door, ringing the doorbell, and running to hide behind a bush and laugh. They egg each other on and think they're tough or brave or clever for it, and they're just hoping Old Lady Hinkleburg won't bake them in her oven or use her witchcraft to turn them into frogs. I know it's a strange analogy, but I really think it fits.

Anyway, the real reason I'm here is that I wanted to apologise for this whole stupid situation. I had no idea how seriously pathetic some (most?) of my fellow FFXIers were. I made a long post on our board asking them to cool it and stop trolling you guys, but it didn't accomplish much other than getting me down-rated and told off for thinking my opinion mattered over there, and how dare I tell them what to do when they're free to post whatever the fuck they want whenever they want!? So, all I can do now is apologise for their behaviour and ask you guys not to hold it against the rest of us. We're not all honestly this stupid, and some of us aren't even inbred! (If only I were in that group then maybe my opinion would matter over there... alas, once again Uncle Dad's genetic legacy is holding me back from my dreams of success.)

Anyway, I don't know why I'm even posting this really, except that I'm embarassed and disgusted with my board right now and I felt the need to apologise on behalf of the monosyllabics over there who can't actually SAY "apologise" much less do it. I had no idea how much the rest of the site (including the admins) looks down on us, and it really bothers me to know it. And unfortunately I can't stop them from being little pricks to you guys, either. So, all I CAN do is ask you to verbally assrape any of them that wander over and start shi
it, and maybe they'll get the hint that they're not welcome here. Or else ignore them, they have short attention-spans anyway and they'll probably get bored if they don't get the attention they crave. <shrug> Anyway, sorry for intruding.

Altough i'm sort of an no-body and have stayed away of the subject,
i would like to agree in Saboruto's post here.
I've been "lurking" so you could say and watching this whole flamewar occur,
and frankly it would seem "the asylum posters are right" and that there are a bunch of ignorant posters unfortunatly mostly from the FFXI board.
So long story short, as another (smart?) member of the FFXI boards, i too apoligize for the sheer idiocy of some members that we may have over there.

And your self-actualised feeling of "you're exactly the problem I'm talking about" is offset by a deep-rooted "fuck off and die" complex that inhibits your natural "thanks for wasting my time posting such a useless bullshit post, moron" tendencies. Now that we've psychoanalysed each other, wanna back off a bit? I'm really REALLY not in the mood tonight.

  • We eat the children. They best hope they can run fast.
  • What makes you think we mind?
  • Don't appologize, you only look as foolish as they but for differing reasons (we don't care why you are here, we only care that you are soft, squishy and tasty).

I can tell your really considerate with improving the situation over in the main forums, and props to you for actually caring. The problem mostly is the mental age bracket that most of these posters reside in. I don't know how this rift started, or why no one is trying to meand it. Until these people actually grow up and realize how childish they really are, I'm afraid your words will fall on deaf ears.

Either way, I respect you for actually trying and having something intelligent to say. :)

Read any of their "discussions" prior to my miraculous incarnation here. They're all the same. "GFY" this. "GFY" that. They're just pissy now because someone from another board dared to come over and play their game with them.

Boy, you're really missing the point in ways I didn't think were possible.

Coming over here all self-depreciating and grovelling is embarrassing. Just sayin'. We don't care about the FFXIers coming over here with their ineffectual scrawlings.

Yeah, see, the thing is I HAVE been reading their discussions, especially the political ones during the election process in the States. Yes, they throw the language around, so? They also had some very interesting insights into the presidential election that I hadn't considered. I wonder if many people on the FFXI board could even name all three candidates. I wonder how many even knew there WERE three?

The point is, I've been a lurker here for a long time, but it's morons like you who've kept me from ever posting here. You come over here, troll (and you're not even funny or clever about it!) and make the rest of us look like idiots who need an attending nurse to wipe the drool off our chins. IT IS EMBARASSING. Do you actually think you're accomplishing something here? What the fuck was that Skeet topic you made even about? It wasn't trolling because IT WASN'T ENGLISH. I mean, if you even made an attempt to actually be clever or funny then maybe it wouldn't be so pathetic, but damn. And then there's me, who somehow got voted ambassador of the FFXI board. The fact that I'm embarassed about the game I play because of people like you just makes me ill. You're not funny, you're not clever, and it doesn't make a goddamn bit of difference how long you thumb through your thesaurus looking for big impressive words to use.

So yeah, the reason the "Asylumnites" are stirred up is because angsty, attention-whoring teenagers keep invading their forum trying to provoke them. And you're part of the problem. Want to be part of the solution? Call AOL first thing tomorrow and tell them you want to cancel your account.

    There were three?

I think you just disenfranchised hundreds of thousands of Green and Libertarian voters in one fell swoop.

Why do you hate voting so much?

Mostly because I couldn't vote this time around. And even if I could have I would've been an absentee Florida voter, and we know how well those work out.

Sab - may I call you Sab? - look, the thing is, we don't care about the incursion. It won't last. Some trolls will hang around for a while and try to pipe up every now and then to be heard! because dammit! they deserve to be HEARD!, and we'll laugh at them or ignore them or rate them to oblivion to get them out of the way; and in the end it won't matter a bit.

Some of the more enlightened, and intelligent, and let's not forget thick-skinned, newcomers will stay around and contribute opinions worth debating on subjects that interest or amuse us hoary old Asylumites (sounds vaguely Biblical, doesn't it?), and they'll be welcome. Eventually.

At any rate stop apologizing. It bores me.

Sorry Saboruto, but who are you to apologize on behalf of the entire FFXI board? Last I checked we didn't elect a representative.

Quit the apologies. Good intention has no place here.

So Uncle Totem took a stroll out of the cage and wandered back with some tasty morsels stuck to his fur.

They weren't very nourishing, but made an interesting dietary change.

No need to be a snack. Grab yourself a knife and fork or fuck off.

There isn't really anything to "mend". It's not like the FFXI posters broke our favorite decorative plate or something.

Since the uBB forums were absorbed the FFXI posters have regularly proven themselves to be, by and large, idiots. Worse than idiots, they've also proven themselves to be whiners and crybabies. You need proof?

    Out of Topic

Alla had to create a whole new forum for the FFXI posters who constantly cried and whimpered that the Asylum was too mean to them. Think about that. It wasn't the DAoC posters or SW:G or EQ posters -- it was the crying of a thousand FFXI posters who got all butt-hurt because they were too stupid to realise this wasn't the forum to post their JP rants or gil buying posts on and got flamed for it. That's a hell of a brand for the community to bear.

Sab, you seem like a stand-up guy. Fuck 'em. The whole thing's simmered down to a few sad hanger-ons who arrived late to the party and don't realise that it's over.
