You're the whiny, butt-sore little ***** and you're complaining about other posters' maturity? Puhh-lease.

Oh, and thanks for the rate Skeet. Those were the days, indeed! Smiley: boozing

Okay, tell me what a non-sucking post is like?

Please? Just do me this one favor before continuing your crusade against me. Tell me how the hell to make a good post!

I won't abandon Qaoz until I leave for good. Making a new user would seem a bit too easy.

I would say start small. You don't jump in to the yard and swing at the big kids and expect them not to swing back. You are antagonistic where it isn't required. You have pissed people off already, so they'll need some convincing. Your treatise on the kharamel system was good to start, but lost steam after 3 paragraphs. Know when to quit. Admit when you're bested.

Start there.

Ok, listen up. Here's the bitter truth about the Asylum.

The Asylum used to be the Out of Topic forum. Prior to that, it was the OoT forum on the uBB boards. It was populated by a subgroup of EQ posters who became rather insular and xenophobic. When we moved to the new boards, we continued to be insular and xenophobic. FFXI players came here, got mocked and left crying. Alla asked us to be nice. We weren't. Seeing that we weren't going to play well with others in the OoT boards, Alla decided to make a new OoT and give us our own exclusive playground: the Asylum.

Get it? Yeah, it's full of in-jokes and circle jerks and cliques. The Asylum means cliques. It's a social club. It's a fraternity. It's an organisation of elitists. It's based entirely on who is "in" and who is just a poster trying to make himself fit in. It's not a "flame board", it's a place Alla set aside for the Old Guard and the "in crowd" to feel special and act elitist. Just by being here you open yourself to flames and rate-downs and a GFY for your opinions. Go ahead and cry about how unfair it is. See if anyone here gives a rat's ***.

Like it or not, you have to "prove yourself" to fit in. People come here and one of three things happen: They are clever, intelligent and funny enough to fit in, they don't fit in and they leave or they don't fit in and they sit here making a fool of themselves trying to bring us down. But we don't care. Just like how Chet and Dane laugh after they trip their caddy into the mud and drive off to meet Muffy on the yacht, we don't care if you say you cunningly provoked us or proved that we're all predictable jerks. We're still going to pat ourselves on the back and laugh at how we tripped your dumb *** into the mud.

Reading what I wrote, I can guess at the response. So be it. Better that you know the forum history and why things are as they are than sit here wringing your hands and crying that you don't get kisses and hugs for posting here.

Come play with me little boy, I'd love to give you some anesthesia...and forget to wake you up!

Your posts have been gross, insulting, and demeaning. Try a little discretion and some kindness. The master posters you refer to have learned the art of insulting without making it a personal attack. I even get some enjoyment from being flamed with that masterful touch. You and Proof need to both learn that not every subject is flame appropriate, that requires maturity which is what you are lacking.

I am willing to give you a fresh start, but you have to earn it!

Ironically, those are the things I myself would rate down on.

Can you write a quote or something to freshen my mind?

I actually started out pretty rough, yeah. I defended Abbay when Dracoid was being kinda rude to her, but already then one of the Admins hated me (I had never written anything harsh or offensive at all) from a Star Wars part of the site. Think her name was Justene or Darkflame... One of the female Admins anyways. I kinda felt I was being tossed about in the mud from the start even though I was trying to help another poster, so I tried to adjust to it.

After watching the jargon or whatever you guys call it, I thought I'd figured it out. You know, fight evil with evil. Guess I was way wrong there.

You're probably right, I should perhaps start over. I fear that I've stepped on too many toes, especially toes belonging to the hardcore Asylum posters. I thought you understood my way of thinking. Not to drag you all into the whole Danish thing again, but we have this weird sense of humor in our country. A humor most people do not understand. We use irony and sarcasm in almost every sentence we speak or write.

Enough about that, won't try to excuse myself by blaming my nationality. I'll take five and maybe return a more subtle and humble poster :P

Thanks for the advice, guys... and girls.

All right, so now Jophiel just needs to crosspost that and we'll turn it into a sticky. It deserves to be one.

Qaoz; No one cares.

No, seriously. We've all been over the Karma system before and NO ONE CARES. We don't give a crap if we get rated down, we don't give a flying fuck if the people in the OOT boards don't like us, and most of all we don't get our panties in a twist if you get pissy.

Quote:

Do NOT rate posts down just because you don't agree with the poster.
Do NOT rate posts down just because you don't find the post relevant.
Do NOT rate posts down just because others have done so.
Do NOT rate posts down just because you don't like the person.

DO rate posts down if the person is being rude.
DO rate posts down if the person contributes with nothing but spam and such.

To restate; we. Don't. Care. What. The. Fu
cking. Ratings. Are.

They have zero purpose. Never have, never will, except as a minor e-***** boost for people with self-esteem issues. The fact that you're choosing to make such an issue out of it speaks much more about your own issues than it does about the system itself.

I generally could give a **** about ratings, but falling under 3 annoys me because my name get's smaller. Were that not the case, it wouldn't bother me at all.

Then again, I have a custom title, and an ego the size of Jupiter so I just assume that if I fell to sub-default that everyone would change their setting to read my witty reparte.

I'm pretty sure a custom title makes ratings even more useless. As in even if we rated you up you wouldn't become sage or guru, nor can you get below scholar.

1. Go to Lowes. Buy some knee guards. You can skip this step, but you'll hate yourself later if you do.

2. Find an Admin.

3. Start puffing.

Actually, this won't get you anything like what you're looking for, but I figure one of the Admins might let you work an 'intern' position from under their desk.

Methinks it's simply a reflection of one's personal forum prescence when you achieve a special title, or in Skeet's place, a special post count.

People who have those have been around for a while, and somehow despite this, at the same time they contribute in some manner at least to the unique personality of the Asylum.

Or make a lot of d1ck and fart jokes.
