The myth of Voter disenfranchisementFollow

#1 Oct 28 2004 at 12:02 PM Rating: Decent
From the Democratic National Committee, www.Democrats.org: "If no signs of intimidation techniques have emerged yet, launch a preemptive strike, particularly well suited to states in which these techniques have been tried in the past.
Issue a press release reviewing public tactics used in the past in your area or state, quoting party minority civil rights leadership as denouncing tactics that discourage people from voting."

Do you realize there's not a single shred of evidence that one black voter who wanted to vote anywhere in this country was not allowed to, legally registered to vote, was not allowed to? Not one shred of evidence to support this claim, and yet the Democrats and Kerry keep making it.

sickening and pathetic. This is evidence of how low these scumbags will stoop in order to get their power back. Whether or not it has anything to do with the facts. The facts get in the way.

Some Americans, who wanted to vote, were eligible to vote, and who tried to vote, were nevertheless denied this precious right to vote.

Didn't think so.

An official publication of the US Commission on Civil Rights? No, how crazy of me to use that as a source. Let me see if I can dig up a good Washington Times article or KKK website to use.

The Commission’s investigation and report also demonstrate that although this denial in Florida fell most heavily on African Americans, it also affected many others, including, but not limited to, individuals with disabilities, people requiring language assistance, and former felons.

I wonder if this idiot b*tch actually realizes felons don't have the right to vote. Oh yeah real credible source.

First, let's lay out the facts. Although some felons have been legally disenfranchised, others have not. Specifically, while only four states allow felons to vote while they are in prison, 18 allow felons to vote while they are on parole and 21 allow them to vote while on probation. Only 10 states permanently disenfranchise all felons and another handful do so to some ex-offenders or restore the ability to vote after a time limit. The Sentencing Project, a prisoner advocacy group, says that 13% of black males are disenfranchised under these laws. They're an advocacy group and their exact figure is subject to challenge, but let's not quibble over a few percentage points. Clearly, this is a big deal.

Actually only 12 states allow felons to vote after they're released. That's doesn't sound like "nearly everywhere" to me. Here in TN the ex-felons I know can't vote. Once again liberal nuts allowing criminals to vote because they think dummycrats will get their vote. That's the side I want to be on voting for a president, vote on the side of felons: democrats vote on the side of the successfull businessmen: republicans. Make your choice.

Regardless, Florida convicted felons can potentially vote after release so your criticism of the report is as asinine as usual for you.

This is the root of what is soo stupid about the way Southerners vote.

They think that by voting the way rich people do it'll make them rich. They think by TRYING to imitate the upper class that they will become UC and be accepted into the inner circle of the southern aristocracy.

It's irrational and just plain sad.

Yeah who would want felons like Boesky or Milken to stand in the way of the sucessful buisnessman vote.

Sucessfull buisness men are largely fellons who didn't get convicted.

Picksy,

Yes I can't understand why anyone would want to emulate someone they admire and strive to be as successful as, such nonsense. Republicans believe that only through hard work can one be successful, that and keeping the govn out of their pockets. Democrats assume everyone can't survive without the government so they vote to take money from those who earned it to give it to those who didn't.

Ahahahaha.

Hahahahahahahahahaha.

Right, that's why the spend more than Democracts in every admonistration. Republicans believe in keeping the wealthy wealthy and the poor poor.

That's the foundation of the party. They don't believe in class mobility and have consistently passed laws against just that for the last 100 years.
