Mac is good. No viruses ever, no spyware, no adware. Guess what.

Look, if the virus and spyware writers can't be bothered, THAT should give you a clue.

For your next trick, tell us why Shadowbane > EQ because there are no player-run casinos.

Okay, I'm in BHOs, and there are like 10 entries with 4 green marks. No red at all.

If you have 10 entries and only 4 are green, you likely got a problem. Look at each one that isnt approved, and google the object. It is usually a dll. If that ojbect is associated with spyware, or you are unsure, blow it away. Helper objects do things like read PDF files inline with your browser and the like. If that stops working, you can just reinstall it. You only need to highlite the opject to get it to expand. IT will tell you the location, name, MD5 checksum, usage dates, etc.

No software....

Maybe I'm partial, because I do music. But, the world class standard for audio/video production, Pro Tools, started on the mac, and was ported to windows, and it sucks *** in windows. All the good music programs are mac only. Sure there's decent ones for windows, but the best are on macintosh. Any program that you can run on pc can be run on macintosh. The exception being games. But most of the good ones run on mac, too.

One thing I found was running S+D, Adaware, and virus scanners in safe mode helps a ton.

If you want a non-Windows machine, download Linux. That way you don't have to pay out the **** for a sparkly colorful ergonomical case, you can just use your same hardware, and it's just as spyware resistant.

Also a few older (but gooder) PC games have been open-sourced and built for Linux, Quake notably among them.

If you're too lazy to learn command-line (which you'll have to learn even with the new x-windows based desktop programs out there) then just install Firefox. I haven't seen a popup in weeks.

Yeah, lin is cool. I have a few distributions of it, but i'm "too lazy to learn". for the uber tech savvy, it's sweet. For a FFXI addict? not this one.
