Hello. This being my first log, I wanted to raise a flag of my own. I just want to know how those of us in the service feel about the state of the nation and the state of things overseas. I've been deployed before and during the war, but I can't believe it's carried on this LONG! Soldiers are sent for full-year tours, the elections in Iraq (and in the US, for that matter) don't look promising, and the rich fatten their wallets and stomachs while the poor get sent to the warzone. Where do you see this country in the next ten years? How about just five?
My predictions:
We're going to war with Iran, Israel will continue their Holocaust against the Palestinian people, and we plummet into another great depression. I hope I'm wrong about all of these things, but there's danger in the air, and we need to talk about our future.

I have a serious problem with your assumption that the poor are sent to battle for the rich.. My next door neighbor is in Iraq right now and i can tell you that my neighbors are anything but poor. Our military is 100% voluntary as it stands and Bush has already promised to not invoke a draft. I'm sorry you disagree with the action in Iraq or whatever, but at the same time noones driving trucks through our ghettos and throwing people in the back of them to be sent overseas. The picture you paint with your words is reprehensible. I respect your service sir, but this aint the 70's and you are no Black Panther.
Please don't tell my fiance we are poor, I just got him all ready to buy a new car when he gets back from Iraq. If he finds out we are poor, all that hard work for nothing!

The fact that were even supporting israel is a huge problem. Palestine was there first then all of a sudden the world decides to give this already owned land to the jews just because hitler did bad things. Being persecutied is not justification to take over land from another country.

Historic first... Me and Pie agree on something. Unfortunately whats done is done and the Palestinians are going to have to live with it. Also, a lot of their devastation stems from the fact that they have done battle with their non-jewish neighbors as well. Their own Muslim brothers kick them out to starve as well. Palestinians are not very likeable people. Addon top of that they allow a complete ***** for brains like Arafat to represent them and you can see why they have done oh so well in the world. As long as the radicals who want to push Israel into the ocean have any kind of political power there there will never be peace there. Our backing of Israel has only served to suck us into that geopolitical black hole.
