My little brother got to be a beta tester, I watched him a little bit. The grapics are definitely better, as you can see from any screenshot, and everything moves much smoother. The NPC's having voiceovers is pretty cool, and there is alot more interaction between them. There was one scene where this Ratonga came in to this inn and started arguing with a Dark-Elf and all of a sudden they just started wailing on eachother, spells flying and everything.

There is also this page he showed me that has a bunch of lore on it that is always cool to read through; I am still browsing it myself.

I'd think about playing it if my ex and her new gay wizard freind weren't thinking about joining in.

Yes there are gay wizards, it's a dawn of a new age people!

I like it.

I like the way you seem to always have a quest to do (and you can do multiple quests at once.. I have like 13 quests i'm currently doing), and the quest journal helps out with that. Makes my collection of sticky notes obsolete. The on thing I didn't like about EQ 1 was the seemingly lack of quests.

I like the way the jobs are presented, and you have to do a quest to get your "real" job.

I like how each area has it's own personality.

I also like the map, it's very informative, telling you where major exits are, as well as major places where you can go. Not sure if there is a push-pin function yet, haven't messed with the map too much. It also tells you where you are in relative position of everything.

And just about every NPC guard knows where another NPC is. (Except this one guy I can't find for my Welcome to Qeynos quest).

What I don't like: so far in the beta, i've been using the same hammer for 6 levels, and I still have most of the same clothes on as I did when I left the Isle of Refuge. I guess i've been doing too many quest and not spending time farming. I don't like how EVERY npc has voice text. It's very annoying. When i'm playing, I listen to mp3's of comedy and books on cd. I haven't found a way to take it off yet.

I don't like exp debt. Never have.

I would have to say that's better than losing exp, and possibly a level.

I didn't, and don't like it.

The world they created has potential, but it needs an entirely new game wrapped around it.

Smiley: lol

Once again, let me turn your attention to Vanguard

This is the one, I am almost sure. They have so many things right, sounds like it is going to be the real EQ2.

Yes, Vanguard looks wonderful and I'm sure I'll want to play it in a few years once it's out. It's third gen though so it's not really in the running when one is choosing between EQ2 and another current game. I guess it'll be more like the "real EQ3".

All the talk of quests sounds good to me. Also tradeskilling. I like that kind of stuff. Pull-kill-repeat just gets too boring sometimes.

Since FFXI is my first MMORPG, and Lineage 2 was mysecond dissappointing adventure. Can you tell me what exp debt means?
Will someone that never played EQ, be able to play EQ2?

Exp Debt, at least in City of Heroes, works as follows:

Die, lose 300xp (imaginary number)
Each time you kill something, half of the xp goes towards debt and half goes towards advancement
600xp later, all your xp goes towards advancement again.

The idea being, I imagine, that you'll always be creeping towards the next level instead of workingly solely to make up lost ground. I never really compared CoH's deby system to EQ's loss system, but both seemed fine for the games they were in.

I believe so, it is a sequal and not an expansion. New toons will need to be made.
